The Cairns Aquarium is one of Australia’s most exciting new world-class tourist attractions. Located in the heart of Cairns, this iconic three level land mark attraction will showcase the animals, plants and habitats of the only two adjoining World Heritage protected areas – The Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest. Protecting and conserving the biodiversity of these World Heritage listed ecosystems is the vision and the overriding passion of our founding partners and this commitment underpins our business philosophy and environmentally sustainable business practices.

Excellent wet weather day activity, we were left with no plans after heavy rain had cancelled the scenic railway, so decided to visit the aquarium, we were very happy that we did.nnIt was educational, informative and friendly, the variety of fish and other creatures on display was excellent, we were there for around 3 hours, could have spent longer but we had other plans.nnWe stopped in the coffee shop afterwards and had a delicious muffin and coffee too.
A surprisingly large number of displays with some of the biggest tanks I have ever seen. The fish and other reptiles are so interesting. Well worth the visit. Very easy to sit and meditate with the fish for hours. Surpassed my expectations.
My first time ever going to an Aquarium in Australia and I'd say I really enjoyed my time here. Came along with my wife and we had so much fun looking at so many history, facts about fish along with lizards and insects. Sad that it kinda ended quite quickly nonetheless a very great and fun experience.nnAtmosphere: 9/10nCost: 7/10nWould recommend: YesnnFinal notes: Would recommend you coming here much earlier to watch some alligator wasn't able to have that because I didn't know they have such kinds.
We went for a Night at the Aquarium Tour and it was absolutely amazing. We were about 10 people and had the whole building for ourselves. The guide did a very good job explaining everything. She was funny and very knowledgeable
Really pretty! Enjoyed it a lot :D. Very relaxing to walk through with areas to sit and enjoy the displays.nnAccessible for wheelchairs n stuff too which is good.
