A couple of months ago I shared a good review, but sadly I would give this place zero stars if it was available. Asked for a large cappuccino and a large green tea. The price for the green tea on the board was $4.30 but was told that a large is $5.50, by the very rude manager named Natalie. We were spoken to very rudely and I would say - don't waste your money going to this cafe. We received a small cappuccino, instead of a large and when we advised the staff they poured the small coffee into a large cup and added more milk......the coffee tasted just like hot milk with no coffee tasted at all. I also received a raspberry tea instead of a green tea, but since the service had been so bad and management had been so rude, we just walked out. If management has no customer service skills, how can you expect the staff to? Happy to give more constructive feedback to the owner if you want. The Botanical Gardens and Totara Park are one of my favourite places and I would love for the cafe to be on par with the beautiful surroundings.

I was pleased that when I pointed out the fly in the food cabinet they threw that plateful out but how long had it been there and what else had it been on??? Coffee was much tooo bitter to drink.

Left an iPad here as they were starting to pack up. Came back an hour and a half later and they said it was gone. I'm pretty sure a staff member would have picked it up as there weren't many customers around. I feel a bit angry and disappointed and won't be returning here anytime soon. As for the cafe it's nothing special, just in a convenient location close to home....

We met family for a late lunch and few drinks Sunday afternoon. We arrived at 2.30, and secured a table, not yet cleared. 15 minutes later we asked for the table to be cleared. We chose from the menu and queued....for 20 minutes. One overworked girl at the till was also serving cabinet food, as well as getting drinks, taking orders, operating the till; very slow and inefficient system. Arriving our turn in queue, the till operator informed us she'd taken the last order in front of us and kitchen was now closed. We ordered cabinet food and drinks. One waitress came over to us to inform us we could get nothing out of the cabinet after 3.30pm and they all wanted to be out of there by 4pm. The staff were exceptionally rude to all of us, particularly one very gobby young female staff member. When we left just after 4pm the staff themselves had sat down around a large table to enjoy bowls of food and drinks. As we walked past, one of the girl workers yelled out, "Thanks you're welcome", insinuating we should have thanked the staff for their very poor service. She then covered her mouth as the others peeled with laughter. Very disconcerting to the customers who have just spent a considerable amount of money in this restaurant. We ate in 12 restaurants over the week in Auckland, and this was an experience never to be forgotten; for the wrong reasons. The owners of this cafe need to take a look at their staff, especially floor management. So many improvements are required as far as staff is concerned. The owners could be making so much more money if operations were better. It was very obvious the owners were not present on this day!
