The four stars is for the food. Delicious. I ate the wagyu tartare and the slow cooked lamb shank. The four stars are NOT for the wait staff. Cold, unapproachable. Thankfully our wine was placed on a serving table behind us. I could reach and refill all the table glasses. Delivering 1 entree only to return 5 minutes later and take it away "that's not yours". I'd eat this food from a street window just to miss the pleasure of the staff.
The food was tasty and the atmosphere was nice, but we'd still recommend Il Baretto or A Tavola first. We came here the other night for Valentines day. It was delicious - don't get me wrong...I ate every little morsel on my plate. Every single bit of my starter, main and dessert. Nothing left at all. But...I still prefer both Il Baretto or A Tavola for Italian food. For both quality of food as well as value - those two just can't be beat. Buzo was just a bit too pricey and a tiny bit too fancy for the food that we had. Also - the service could have been better. We had about 3 different waiters who were attending to our table as well as all the others. It was a bit strange, but for some reason I was getting the feeling that none of the servers liked one another? Not really in the Valentines spirit...now is it? If you do find yourself there though - enjoy the melt-in-your mouth gnocchi and the delicious duck ragu which is prepared with more of a tomato base rather than the cream base you typically see. And leave room for dessert because the berry trifle thing was yummy.
A shadow of its former self. Buzo has replaced its excellent Italian menu with average modern Australian. A couple of stand out dishes try the duck ravioli or wagyu tartare, but the rest were mediocre if not under cooked. Service was polite but inattentive - white wine left on tables to get warm. Not a cheap meal and there's bank for your buck all across sydney
Having had a poor experience at Buzo I was reluctant to return but my friend was eager to try under Macleay Bistro banner. Waitress advised she was doesn't drink so not confident to make a cocktail. Much anticipated triple cheese souffle had a cheese sauce to die for but souffle was spoungy. Chef advised the cod from the market was not up to scratch and offered trout and kingfish. Highly encouraged by this diligence I was hoping for good things but it was actually unpleasant and I only ate half and that's because I was hungry. We were the only people in the downstairs area a group came in upstairs at some stage so no atmosphere. Left hungry and won't be back
Buzo is a neighborhood gem. modern European food with a each dish having something new to offer. Loved their red cabbage crackers with gooey cheese dip, their beetroot goats curd sakad with pops of honeycomb. outstanding service too.
For more than a decade, Buzo has been a purveyor of modern Italian cuisine and great wine in an intimate atmosphere. While the menu is ever changing, there are some solid favourite dishes of mine that never leave the menu including the cabbage salad of savoy cabbage, pine nut, raisin & pecorino insalata, pangrattato and the mushroom and truffle lasagne called vincisgrassi porcini, mushroom, prosciutto, truffle & parmigiano The wine list is exceptional, as is the service. It's worth starting the night next door at the Wine Library or perhaps finishing there with an espresso martini. One of my favourite Paddington hot spots.
Service has always been great and food is delicious. Very happy they have come back to feed the hungry locals. Order the Short Ribs :-
I thought it was italiano which was why I want but I was surprised with the modern European style it was fantastico! I try fish fingers they were crazy then the lamb so very good!!! So much I want to try so I will be going back very soon
Delicious food, wonderful service, relaxed friendly atmosphere. This will definitely be my local in future.
The food is fantastic, the wine is devine and the staff are top notch
