It is a very long jetty in the heart of the tourist area including Visitor Centre, Life Saving Club, brewery, netted ocean pool, multilevel hotel & care/restaurant. Lots of free parking available.nnThe pier itself also hosts a train & an aquarium, as well as a good spot for anglers.nnWe were there early on a Friday am - lots of walkers, runners, anglers, walkers & school groups.nnAlong yourself an hour I reckon to walk it with a bit of time to admire the view. The water is very clear.
Busselton pier, a beautiful coastal city between Perth and Nargaret River, has the longest pier in the world with a length of 1,874 km. You can reach it by walking in at least 25 minutes, you can also go by train. You can visit the underwater observatory for $45 Australian dollars. You need to buy a ticket in advance, it is mostly full. You can go from one end of the pier to the other for $15 Australian dollars round trip.
Took the Busselton jetty train and did the underwater observatory. Fun ride in squeezy carriages for the 1.8km ride to the far end. Great friendly volunteer staff and well maintained train. All ticket costs go to keeping the jetty and train up keep, so worth the cost. Good gift shop. Worth the visit.
Great little spot, the jetty train ride to the underwater observatory was fun with the kids, and the food options at the Goose, Shelter brewing Co and Sandbox are all good options.
If you are visiting Perth, WA; Busselton Jetty is a must visit.nnIt is the longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, 1.871 km long, and there is a train ride to there as well, especially if you are with parents and kids.nnI recommend arriving earlier in the day and booking in advance if there is an option. Else, you would have to wait up to 2 to 4 hours for your turn.nnThere are ample eateries in case you have to wait. I recommend both The Goose and Shelter, Shelter was our preferred choice.nnThere are toilets when you reach the observatory. I know because I drink a lot of water. nnWe went walking with two kids, 13 and 7, and both loved the walk. However, we paid $20 to take the train back. So, we experienced both walking and riding the train back. There are two different type of tickets, one that gets you 15 min in observatory and you can walk to and fro and another, that let's you ride the train to and fro and gives you 45 min, including 15 min guided tour.nnWe chose former and still took the train back, so I lived that combination, but the latter is better money and convenience wise, in case you are with elderly or kids who can not walk that much.nnWe loved the observatory as well. There is a quiz on the jetty after frequent intervals that keep you and kids busy if you choose to walk, which I strongly recommend.nnYou can view fishes and the water is very clean. The observatory literally goes 15 mt into the water, and there were people snorkelling as well.
