Located on the shores of Lake Macquarie, Brownsugar offers one of the most picturesque and relaxing dining experiences. Our weddings and function areas cater for up to 110 guests for a sit down function and up to 200 guests for a cocktail function and offer a beautiful lakeside setting to dine, entertain and enjoy your fabulous function. Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and every night for dinner. Enjoy the unique lakeside dining experience or just come in and relax with coffee and cake with breath taking views.

Went there for a birthday lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed by 12:30, and the service was still good. We ordered the Seafood platter between three of us and it was amazing- more than enough food, with very fresh and tasty seafood with minimal deep frying. The best we have ever eaten. You need to book as it is very popular.
View was spectacular, service was extremely slow 30 minutes to get a drink , 50 minutes for an entree and an hour after that for a main. Food was nice, garlic bread was like bread not crunchy. We didn't order desert because we were scared to wait longer. A little disappointing that they obviously booked too many people and didn't have enough people to complete the task.
A must in your to-do list. Nicely ambiented with a modern style with really good views of the lake. Food is delicious, delicate dishes with great flavours, cake's a must. Very good drinks. Service is 5 stars, really friendly and respectful staff. Would definitely return.
What a place with scrumptious food and gorgeous view! Tks to the friendly & efficient staff as well. You hv to book it in advanced as it’s a very popular place for friends gathering. But the mango and passion fruit cake was a bit disappointed as there’s no mango & passion fruit taste at all. Anyway we will definitely go back again!!
Do I do that? Do I pick this place apart and sound like some pretentious city hipster making fun of a provincial pretender? Or do I just say nice things? I don't know. Platter for two is enough for four. The toilet is not a spare room for tables and chairs. Scallops don't take that long to cook. Pisco sour tastes punchier than what I got. View is lovely and I am grateful I can afford to bring my kids to high end places like these. Only trying to help!
Not a 5 just yet, atmosphere and service excellent food is very good,meat was a little over done for my taste and seafood was a bit bland but still nice.Definitely will try again
What an amazing place. We had my daughters 21st there last night. Bernadette you are truly an amazing person to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble and you made the whole experience so lovely. The decor was stunning the food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. A big thankyou to the bar staff to for being so lovely and a special mention to Lauren as she was amazing.
I'd heard this place was great. Not so. I had the Mexican prawns to start. There wasn't much Mexican about it. The salsa was just chopped up tomato and onion. There was very little flavour. The prawns were nicely cooked, if a little over. It needed a little bit of spice, a good squeeze of lime, and some coriander; then it might have tasted Mexican. Husband had the Korean pork wontons; way too much fat. Husband had Duck Maryland, and I had Chicken Supreme as mains. Both were overcooked and dry. My chicken was supposed to come with a prawn 'mousse' - it was more like a very overcooked omelette stuffing - nothing mousse or prawn about it. The wine list needs some expansion. Meals are very overpriced for the quality, and I wouldn't go back. Staff were attentive and helpful, nothing wrong there.
Excellent food!! We had the oysters and grilled Octopus entrees and they were delicious and fresh. The mains were all hot, tasty and cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and the local ipa from maltnhops was really good!! Desserts were amazing as well. We will definitely be back!
Service was fantastic very friendly staff, loved the food, all the dishes were great, beautiful views over the lake too, definitely recommend Food: 5/5
