A taste of home, this place is a proper chippy, with proper portions. Me and my brother-in-law decided he was gonna treat us to good food, we had a fairly big order for 4 adults. The staff where polite, and very hard working, we had maybe a 15 minute wait which I thought was a good time for a such a busy place. The order was correct and fresh. My partner was super happy with the piece of fish and taste of it. The Haggis was good. The burger was a little greasy but had good flavour. And the sausage and chips was perfect. Overall the young girl that served us was efficient and polite, the food came in good time and was all fresh, and it was reasonable priced for the amount we got. If your in the joondalup, currambine area definitely get yourself into The British Chippy, and if you live a further a field then they have you covered too, they have a eating in area to sit down and enjoy the great food.
Great service and excellent value fish and chips. All items were available gluten free so my wife could eat anything. Very happy and this will become our new preferred fish and chips venueFood: 5/5
Ordered online from a selection of hake, snapper, and cod. Sold out of cod so ordered seemingly snapper and chips which was advertised as $13.50 per serve. Get there only to be charged $18.50 and when I queried the price they said that the cheaper price was for a small size. Fair enough, but nobody made this apparent when we rang up and ordered to ask what size we'd like!!! And they are the first line items that appear on their menus online, on the printed brochure and on their menu board in the shop, so it's an easy misleading mistake to make. As they did not ask what size we would like, they simply gouge you by charging you more for the regular size when you turn up. I'm obviously not the first person that did this, judging by the young man filling the order and shaking his head at me. The chips were genuinely not nice as they were, soggy small pieces as others have noted. Apparently you can upgrade at a cost to British chips which are larger and better. This, there must be an obvious difference. And the fish most certainly did not taste like snapper, and was rubbery. Are they still allowed to call other species 'shark' in WA? Shame about the duplicitous bait and switch practices when you order, and needless to say we will not shop there or any of their branches again. Disappointing day as I took my old Mum and family there for a treat.
What have you done to our favourite chippy! I'm sorry but we don't like the new plastic baskets which you now serve your fish and chips in....we want a plate please. How am I supposed to cover my chips in curry sauce? If you don't provide plates any more can we bring our own? We are regular customers of yours, but won't be coming back till you get rid of these plastic baskets.
Distinctly British fish and chips right down to the smallest detail. We had the North Atlantic Cod. It was delicious and the hand cut chips soaked in salt and brown vinegar where magnificent. A special shout out to Lily who served us. A delightful young lady, very patient and helpful. We’ll be back Dietary restrictions: Many of the menu options are Gluten Free.
Ridiculously expensive and has gone down hill big time. I used to love going here as a treat and a wee taste of home, won't be going again that's for sure! For starters, the child serving was confused when we asked for a supper then charged us seperately for fish and then the chips. I used to love a white pudding supper here but now they charge more and give only one pudding instead of the usual two. Snapper was overcooked as were the chips. Very disappointing for the price they charge!
First time trying out the Ellenbrook store and I have to say … best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Great portion sizes for what I ordered, crispy batter and perfectly cooked fresh cut chips. You’ve got me and my boys hooked. Well done Ellenbrook team.
Really disappointed yesterday Valentines day with my take away order. Had ordered Snapper and chips and my fish was definitely not snapper. I was given 2 small very flat over cooked pieces of fish. I realise it was very busy and the wait time was very long, over 30 mins but that is not an excuse for poor quality food. I have always used the British Chippy since the shop opened but will definately be going elsewhere in future. Such a shame.
Hi picked up 2 snapper and one serve of chips at 7pm today Sunday only one snapper was edible the other was tough as old boots it ended up in bin with the bulk of the chips can’t believe this was normal otherwise you would not be in business
Seriously good fish & chips choice of UK or AU style chips UK For the win! Fish was delicious we had the snapper warning serving sizes are Large !! they offer a smaller serve which I would have if we go again not in my area was visiting MIL
