Great restaurant/bar. A lovely place to hang out. We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a local. We were not disappointed. On the second day we enjoyed the meals just as much as on the first day. All very tasty. Something for everyone. A roll selection of beer and other drinks. The dining room is very cozy. Two fireplaces and the wood look make it very cosy. There is also an outdoor area. Very quiet and quiet. Parking is plentiful.
I have held off writing a review about this place because it’s so conflicting. And we actually come here all the time!nnThe food is amazing! And always is chefs, you guys rock and hold this place togethernnBut the service is always terrible. But tonight 24/1 around 8pm it was especially atrocious. Me, my in laws and my parents decided to come for dinner. My parents had never been here before and we wanted them to try the chefs amazing meals. When we arrived, we stood at the bar, the staff didn’t look us in the eye and kept walking past pretty typical, it’s not hard to say ‘hello, we’ll be with you in a sec’nnWhen we asked for a table of 6, we were told, “yeah just go take a seat”. You see, when we constantly receive bad service from somewhere, we like to make sure we are known so we don’t get forgotten. Must I say, we are never rude, we always smile and thank the servers.nnWe also make sure to order drinks asap so we don’t get left sitting there getting thirsty it happens. My in laws arrive about 8minutes after we did and ordered their drinks those were forgotten and they had to ask for them about 20minutes later BUT! When we called the lady over to take our meal order this is when it got really bad, and if I hadn’t of worked in hospitality all my life, I would have yelled at this lady. She was impatient, she was yelling at my parents, demanding entree orders first and THEN main meals which confused them more. You see most people just go through their whole order each. my parents hadn’t decided on their fish meal because they don’t know the menu, they didn’t know you could get a courgette salad OR lemon broth she started saying yelling rather. I’m just waiting for anyone that’s ready to order with an attitude. When they asked for the snapper with the minted pea, they were corrected with “you mean the lemon broth”. A good server would have known they meant the lemon broth and left it at that. When I ordered, I knew how impatient she was, so I said straight away, I’ll have the poke bowl with Moroccan chicken. She looked up at the ceiling and said “protein”, I repeated CHICKEN. I was shocked, not only at the attitude. But at the lack of listening skills, ESPECIALLY after having the audacity of yelling at my parents. I decided to say something to her away from the table, only to realise that after our order was taken, she was looking at her watch, and then she was gone. It was then when I realised she was in a race to go home.nnGood waiters/waitresses do not throw their weight around when they are stressed or wanting to go home, they finish their job and head off without allowing the customer to feel their impatience and frustrations. It was a terrible night after that. The only thing that made up for it was the food And it always does. Wait, the young lady behind the bar was also lovely and had a great smile/vibe while clearing our tablennSomething needs to happen with the service here, whether it be more training, tougher management, some moving around of staff, I’m not sure, but if the service was on point. The whole place would be.
Nice venue, food was pretty good. But there was a lot of young staff standing around doing not much, while one older guy seemed to do all the work.nnWe had to call staff over to a order dinner, b ask for the dessert menu, and c order dessert, while 5 staff were generally standing around.
We had our 42nd wedding ann' there last week 12/2, and wouldn't go back again!! While my lamb meal was very good, my wife's salmon meal was uneatable and her cheese cake desert was very bad, the cheese part was gritty and the biscuit part was doughy
Nice location, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was yum, good portion size and value for money. Good selection of wine, decent glass size.
