Absolutely disgusting. Do not waste your time.nnTell me in what world are there assessments due before youre even through with the material for the assessments? Why do staff not follow through on time sensitive promises they themselves make? Why do I have to learn from Google searches and YouTube videos what I should have been able to learn in class?nnAnd do NOT give excuses for teachers who cannot manage their time accordingly. If other staff can manage to respond to their students in timely fashions, why is one supposed to be given leeway?nnI had made it known I was struggling with a topic and needed help, only to end up EFFECTIVELY GHOSTED BY MY TEACHER until I submitted a complaint and request to withdraw to the department. Over a week late reply to a request for an extension and questions seeking clarification is NOT acceptable in any world.nnAbsolute waste of time and money, and the amount of stress I was under thanks to all of this is appalling.nnI could very easily go into heavy detail on why I am beyond mad at this point. Atrocious institution.
My experience in the Certificate III in Animal Care Services Pet Grooming at Box Hill Institute was absolutely disgusting to say the least.nnFrom the moment this course began, communication from teachers and administrative staff was consistently unreliable, as well as communication between the teachers and administrative staff.nnWhenever I sent emails or teams messages about assessments, an absence, or required support/clarification, they were left on read or just plainly ignored.nnMultiple promised opportunities to catch up on missed practical work were repeatedly cancelled or changed last minute, impacting my ability to complete assessments on time. Instead I was rushed or had to seek assistance from other students in my class because I wasn’t able to gain clarification from the teacher.nnAll of the online quizzes we were required to complete, were poorly designed and frequently incorrect. Answers were marked wrong despite being correct, and even staff were unable to properly explain or justify the questions. This shows a serious lack of quality control within the assessments and lack of teacher knowledge.nnClass organisation was chaotic every single time, with constant last-minute changes between in-person and online delivery, unclear instructions, and little to no guidance.nnMajority of the tasks were poorly written, confusing, and full of basic errors. Teacher communication was also full of basic errors and spelling mistakes.nnHowever what really tipped the boat for me was the conduct of a teacher during a class, who behaved aggressively by yelling and actively complaining about other students in the class. They created an intimidating environment for not only myself but the only other two students whom attended the class.nWe were all extremely uncomfortable in the class and one student left the class because of it.nDuring this same class, the teacher sent me passive-aggressive messages questioning my attendance while I was physically present in the class. This was both unprofessional and extremely inappropriate.nnTo make matters even worse, a formal complaint I had previously submitted was not kept confidential — I was directly identified to the teacher, which led to confrontation during this same class when I eventually spoke up and told the teacher I was present after he sent multiple passive aggressive messages to me. This is a serious breach of privacy and completely unacceptable.nnDespite multiple attempts to withdraw from the course and have my payment plan stopped, I have received no response. I have also formally requested a full refund due to the treatment I experienced, particularly in my last class, and this has also gone unanswered.nnThis course was a complete waste of my time, my money and has now impacted my mental health. It was extremely disorganised, poorly delivered, and fell well below an acceptable standard of education and professionalism.nnI would strongly advise others to avoid Box Hill Institute entirely and seek a more competent and inclusive provider.nnAfter being repeatedly ignored when attempting to withdraw, stop my payment plan, and resolve these issues directly, I have escalated this matter to an external ombudsman. The complete lack of response left me with no other option.
My experience with Box Hill Institute has been really disappointing. Right from the beginning, applying for the course was extremely complicated and messy. I wasn’t even sure if I was enrolled in the course until a month before the start date, despite my numerous efforts contacting the customer service team completely useless to clarify. We weren’t given a schedule and the course wasn’t even finalised until the week of our first classes.nnAlthough the staff were kind, the course itself was unbelievably unorganised. There were days where we were taught the exact same content we had already covered, and teachers would get replaced halfway through units. This caused major problems because one teacher would tell us how to submit our work, and the new teacher would then say it was incorrect. Because of this, a lot of us had to resubmit work multiple times due to the lack of communication and organisation from the teaching staff. The whole class dealt with this and everyone was confused, stressed, and frustrated.nnWhen you’re paying the amount of money that these courses cost, you expect a high quality learning experience with well structured content and consistent teaching. Unfortunately, it was far from that.nnTo make things worse, I finished the course in November and still haven’t received my certificate It’s now january, even though we were told we would have it over a month ago. Despite my efforts again trying to contact customer service team still useless they still could not answer a single one of my questions and told me to “be patient” until the certificate is sent out, which is digital might I add. Due to the delay, i’m not able to apply for the next course in time for the enrolment date. Overall, I’m really unhappy with my experience and wouldn’t recommend it AT ALL based on what I went through.
I attended the course to become a driving instructor and had a fantastic experience led by a wonderful man and teacher in Clarence Pacheco, who helped me and the others by using his experience to help educate and his humor and approachable attitude to make the class a very fun and edifying experience overall. He taught me many valuable lessons that have all been true in practice as a driving instructor and cannot thank him or Box Hill enough for a great experience. For constructive criticism, I would say there is a bit of unnecessary fat that could be trimmed from the course content but overall very happy.nnKind RegardsnnGeorge
Such a poor experience start to finish. If your child needs any extra support you would be better off pretty much anywhere else. Really disappointing from what we were told versus what actually happened.
