Botanical Funerals is an independently owned funeral service provider run by 6th Generation Funeral Director Ian and Shirlene Allison. The firm continues the legacy of six generations of service as Ian’s family has been in the funeral services industry for over 150 years.

From the very first time I spoke with Ian and then meeting Ian with my family, we found him to be attentive, compassionate, professional, but friendly and the most important genuine. Nothing was too much trouble for Ian and his crew. I loved that I received a text from Ian on my fathers passing, to be informed that they were on their way to transfer my father into their care. I thought the words were very thoughtful and gave me the reassurance that even though my father had passed, he was going to be looked after. It’s the little things such as this by Ian and Botanical Funerals and many other examples, that made the difference for it to be stress free and positive experience in such a distressing and sad time. Nothing was too much trouble for Ian and his crew. Any requests by my family were taken on board without any issue. Ian took time to explain and answer all our questions and was there on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly and without incident. It was very reassuring to have him there on the day with his guiding help. Ian was never pushy for my family to use his services and the fees were extremely reasonable extremely competitive and could cater for any type of funeral cost. Gemma Sacco"},{"text":"On the 20th April 2022 Ian and the Botanical Funeral Staff conducted my mothers Funeral at Box Hill Cemetery in the Lawn Area. We have the privilege of meeting with Ian early September 2021 as my mother had suffered a severe fall and not expected to survive. Over the enduring months until March this year we continued contact. What a breath of fresh air to meet with Ian and Ghislaine both extremely compassionate and understanding and nothing was too much trouble. The Funeral was conducted with respect a beautiful Graveside Service on a cloudy Melbourne Day. I have received many phone calls from Ian to see how we were going as a small family this restores your faith in humanity. The Celebrant that I left Ian to choose Paul was also compassionate and his service about my 98 year old mother were beautiful. It was a typical Melbourne day with a slight drizzle and as we walked up to the Lawn Cemetery everyone was offered a light blue umbrella a refreshing change from the somber black. Thank you Ian"},{"text":"Botanical Funerals and Ian Allison in particular were absolutely fantastic with my grandmother’s funeral. This is the first grandparent I’ve lost and while in the midst of dealing with that grief, we’ve had to plan a funeral that my Nan would have approved of. Ian Allison made such a tough time much easier. He met with us as a family to go through the process of planning a funeral and was compassionate, thorough and extremely helpful. At the funeral itself, the staff of Botanical Funerals were respectful and caring and made sure that we were comfortable with water bottles, tissues, etc and everything was arranged the way we wanted it. The Order of Service booklet was of high quality and exactly what we wanted and the picture slideshow they put together was incredible. Having an e-tribute was great to allow people to share wishes, memories, photos and videos of Nan in a central place where details of the funeral and live streaming could also be accessed. This was great as we could send the link to everyone and they could access all the information. The only downside we had was that the tribute webpage was a bit clunky to use and some people struggled to figure out how to leave messages. Once we figured it out, we were fine. The funeral was able to be live-streamed for relatives in the UK which made them feel included, particularly during a time when borders are closed and they couldn’t fly here to be here in person. Within a few hours, the picture slideshow and the edited version of the funeral were available to be downloaded. Very efficient. I would highly recommend Ian Allison and the team at Botanical Funerals. They were professional, thorough, compassionate and respectful during a stressful time and I know my Nan would have approved. They were wonderful, their attention to detail was great, they sourced beautiful west Australian flowers for the floral tribute. The funeral was almost exactly as my mother wanted.
