Love their pastries! Almond croissant and torsadine are a few of my favs. So glad I could order them via Menulog for an early morning breakfast delivery. A pity you can't order their lovely tarts or cakes on the app, but I was surprised they gave me a choc tart with my order! Thank you :
Visited this morning and bought a small coffee and strawberry tart. The tart is clearly around 2 days old. Strawberries are dry and floppy, the pastry is rubbery and stuck to the base plate and the custard is dried out. At $11 for a small lukewarm coffee and inedible pastry, you'd expect a little better. I would've thought businesses would be pushing to invite new customers & keep their current base with great produce and service. You have an opportunity to be the best and only Boulangerie on Melbourne St, don't ruin the opportunity.
We went to this location with really high hopes based on the reviews. We were intending to have a brunch there. When we arrived it was clearly to late at 11am, the outdoor tables were still covered in the leftovers from other visitors, the stock was pretty decimated and to say that the staff were disinterested would be a massive understatement, they didn't even look up from their phones when we walked in, talked amongst themselves whilst we were ordering the last of the croissants and went straight back to their phones when we were paying. The bread and the croissants were amazing and we'll definitely buy more.
Very good croissant and excellent service . Also tried the raspberry tart which was average .
Truly excellent gelato - my favourite in Adelaide. Great flavours and very reasonable prices considering the quality. When I've been in, the service has always been very prompt and friendly. It would seem that Bononia is run by an Italian family, and they're doing a great job of bringing the Italian atmosphere, and tradition of quality, to Adelaide.
Completely unacceptable. When we ordered our breakfast, we asked for no feta and add eggs. The employee with the chef jacket evidently not a qualified chef didn’t seem to know what was in his menu, and said he thinks eggs might be on the dish. We waited 20 minutes and there was one table of two that had ordered before us. Everyone else had their food, so I asked the waitress if she can check on our food. She said they “only got one chef”. No apology, just a statement. I waited another 10 minutes, went back to ask for a refund. Saw the chef poking at my toasted croissant on the plate, and pointing at it to the other staff. Still no food, so I asked for a refund, and they tried to refund me for only one of the meals. I repeated my order the third time, and he scoffed at me and said “i only just started right now” The chef jacket employee was making coffee, so thats when he decides to actually use the POS and go back to past transactions, see my actual order and refund me for the food. Beautiful looking cafe, but absolutely unacceptable to hire incompetent, rude and totally unforgiving staff. I hope the owner can review what happened today, and make some changes to staffing.
The croissants and danishes are some of the best I've had! Stayed in the area for a few nights and came back every day for breakfast - loved trying all the different flavours. Great service and well priced too :
Omg! Fantastic Almond Croissant! The best I’ve had outside Paris!! Super excited that they will be open on Semaphore Road very soon!
Beautiful pastries, we regularly buy their sourdough and croissants. Love having them on Melbourne street! Not the place I would personally dine in because it has no ambience.
Bononia makes the best real Italian gelati in Adelaide. Prices are aligned to all other gelati places $6.90 two scoops, not sure why the lady below claims to have paid $7.90 for one scoop??, but quality of ingredients is better.
