Easily my favourite overall bouldering gym. The space is big but never wasted, super nice atmosphere, the regulars and staff are all super friendly, and in the 2 occasions I've seen injuries staff were fantastic about providing ice, support and a bit of distraction while waiting for the ambulance.nnThe setting is the best for any gym I've been to - big, creative and/or technical moves that leave the easy climbs still really fun to do even for climbers well outside of the skill range and make beginners feel more engaged than any other gym I've seen. Meanwhile the climbs at my level are wonderfully engaging mentally as well as physically - huge props to the setters!nnThe air quality is very good, increasingly something that puts me off some gyms, and the lighting and ventilation is really nice too with some nice afternoon sun near the entrance. Good bathroom and shower facilities are also good, though I think that's nothing unusual. Big points for including complimentary period supplies in the male bathroom area to really welcome trans men alongside an all gender bathroom, the gym in general feels super comfortable and welcoming for queer and trans people beyond just empty lip service. There are some nice bonuses as well including a slackline, a comfy lounge area with included boardgames and a table tennis table that help foster a very friendly atmosphere.nnI'm not huge on training most of the time, a lot of areas and equipment in other gyms feel quite unwelcoming to the less experienced, but the training area at blochaus is really nice - a fully featured campus board, peg board, a spraywall that's still got jugs on it for those that can't work the brutally hard walls of some gyms and a kilterboard plus weights, fingerboards and pullup bars deck out one training area, with a whole other gym area for those more experienced trying for a more serious over all workout that's less social.nnI don't have many photos of the facility, but I'll include 3 clips that hopefully show off some of the impressive setting and my butchering of the routes! :
Quality setting and cleanest bouldering gym I've ever been to. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this gym for beginners as well as their problems are very beginner friendly and considerate of different body types.
Checked out Blochaus Bouldering in Marrickville and it was an awesome session. The place has a really cool vibenheaps of space, good music, and a mix of routes that suit both beginners and people who actually know what they’re doing. The setting is creative and gets changed up often, so there’s always something new to try.nnStaff were friendly and helpful, and the whole gym feels really well looked after. The mats are comfy, the holds are clean, and the atmosphere is super chill. Great spot to train, push yourself, or just have a fun climb with mates.nnDefinitely worth a visit if you’re into bouldering or want to give it a go
Killer gym! Went on a Saturday so was obviously busy but the place is big enough and the great layout makes it so you couldn't really tell. Loads of routes and a lot of variety.nMy friend rented shoes and was able to send all the routes so they're clearly well maintained.nThere's a slack line if you're interested in that sort of thing.nI've found the blochaus community to be more welcoming than the 9 degrees community and that's including the staff.nGreat facilities and well maintained climb down holds.n25 buck day pass seems to be the going rate so average priced.
Went here for the first time & it was really good as a complete beginner to bouldering. Staff were all very helpful. Plenty of chalk around & the selection of food & drinks was great. Will definitely be coming back as soon as my body heals
