Awesome! We had a group dinner of 11 - ordered the set menu. The food was delicious! Plenty of it - everyone was in happy food comas by the end. Consensus seems to be the octopus for the entree was the favourite, but every dish was fresh, flavourful, and enjoyed by all. Staff were fantastic - happily accommodated a few dietary requirements as well as a spontaneous additional person at our table. Thanks for looking after us! Dietary restrictions: Make sure to request at the beginning, but the kitchen was amazing at accommodating the few different restrictions in our group.
Been meaning to visit Black Fire for a while and we went this weekend on a Saturday night. The staff were really friendly and attentive which was great. The food was okay. I had read reviews 2 years ago that were fantastic but it seems to have dropped. We ordered the set menu for 3 People and the first 3 meals were so tiny. The final meal of pork, lamb and sides was okay but we still left hungry. Flavours were also nothing spectacular and I didn’t think it was value for money. Thank you to the friendly staff who served us but unlikely to come back.
I was recommended Black Fire a couple of years ago by a South American friend. I think it's lost some of that wowness of a new restaurant but it's still pretty decent. This franchise is along the same vein as Meat & Wine Co. I wouldn't call it fine dining, it's probably a very nice mid range place though. The portion sizes are fairly big, the staff are prompt and attentive and it's good value for money. Ppl giving this restaurant a 3 are too harsh. Entrées: House bread: What were you supposed to pour the oil into? It didn't really come with a dipping saucer. They had butter as well as oil... But no balsamic vinegar. Oysters: small size, good taste Prawns: Large, flavourful, amazing sauce. Octopus: Good amount, good taste. Came with avocado puree, onions, roasted peppers.. Very more-ish. Mains: meat v good. Dessert: large size but a let down. When asked to describe the dessert, the waitress just read about 30% of the printed description on the menu. It was supposed to be cheesecake and loosely resembled a deconstructed one, but didn't taste like one. The big roll of chocolate fondant was surprisingly good. It is World Chocolate Day July 7 so it's befitting to eat a big hunk of chocolate today. Drink: lychee mocktail good.
A top restaurant, not a huge menu, but what's served is superb Last night we had steak, and fish, bothe were fabulous! So good we returned tonight for the chefs special of slow roasted lamb, probably the best ever! THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC.... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!Food: 5/5
The balance of our dishes were something I'd never experienced. Seafood was so fresh and the drinks menu was on another level.
The Angus fillet was excellent, crispy on the outside, tender in the inside and exactly on the level I wanted it to be. The pumpkin side dish was also great. On top, I enjoyed a nice IPA. Service was very nice as well. Would definitely come again.Food: 5/5
Canberra dining scene is certainly getting competitive! Very polite staffs and the menu has a good range of diary free options.
Took the kids to Canberra for the school holidays and went here last night. We were not disappointed, the food and service was amazing. So many varieties of food to choose from. Parking: Parking is only a walking distance to the restaurants.
I came here for dinner with my mom. We ordered the Tomahawk steak, and it was good for 2 people. It came with 2 sides and 2 sauces of your choice. It was delicious!!!Food: 4/5
We were really excited to try this place but unfortunately it was horrible. I am not sure if they were just having an off day but the service was horrible, especially as we were the only ones in the restaurant. The meat was so so fatty and everything was tasteless. We even had hair in our food and their response was “oh we will take 10% off”.
