We were just going for a drive with my mum to test her driving up the Blackbutt Range, and we came across the Blackbutt Cafe. Primarily searching for coffee, but always keen to try a new pie shop, I was both surprised and delighted at the unusual flavour selection. I chose the creamy corn beef and selected the steak and mushroom for mum. Well, for a pie that could easily have been a disaster, it was anything but. Luxuriant, creamy white sauce covered ample, well seasoned, corn beef. There was a very real risk of salt dominating the flavour profile, but this was superbly managed. I tip my hat to the baker. I'm inspired to attempt to recreate this masterpiece in my own kitchen.nThe steak and mushroom got the seal of approval from my mum, and the coffees were actually very well made as well. I know I might sound surprised, but far too many food places overlook serving correctly made coffee.nSo all in all, a win. I will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

Had a creamy mushroom pie and a chunky steak pie with raspberry cheesecake tart. Pies are juicy and thick chunks of meat. Huge pie. Great taste. Place was busy but served and out pretty quick. Dam good if you’re out that way.
The creamy garlic mushroom and steak pie was amazing. Pepper steak was delicious apparently, my partner had it, sausage roll good. But way too much salty potato on the potato pie, it tasted like deb with a little mince. The sweets were delicious! Especially the bee sting vanilla slice, this one should win Australia's best vanilla slice, hands down!
Best pies in Queensland. The Big Mack pie is 10/10.....as are just about every pie, pastry, sandwiche, roll, and slice they do.
