A spacious, warehouse style cafe in Sydney's Inner West suburb of Annandale . Serving up delicious food and Campos Coffee by expert baristas.

Story

Black Toast is an eclectically styled cafe housed in one of Annandale's oldest buildings. Serving local produce on our well rounded menu, we have been known to specialise in a hearty breakfast and Campos Coffee made by great baristas.

It is one of my favourite cafes in Annadale! Make sure you go there early as the queue could be a bit long on the weekend. Service was great ! Staffs were all very friendly and helpful. We had a beef sandwich, fries and the famous purple pancakes. We enjoyed every bite! You must try the purple pancakes if you are a pancakes lover like me.

It had been pre-Covid since our last excellent visit - it was up another notch this time. Big Brekky was outstanding - large, fresh, perfectly cooked. Eggs Benny was massive and equally delicious. Service team Grace were beyond excellent. 100% recommend.
Good! Reasonable price, very friendly staff and delicious. I had the corn zucchini fritters, I recommend you order this! They have many sandwiches as well which I want to try later.
Very disappointed to find out the $22 vegan “burger” was just a naked patty with some lettuce leaves and a hunk of avocado on-top. When I double checked my order I was told “the avocado IS the bun”. No chips, no bread, no trimmings, only a suggestion of the beetroot hummus that was advertised on the menu. If I didn’t know better I would think this place hated vegans! Daylight robbery!
Went out for breakfast with family and friends and the food here is fantastic. Perfect place for a coffee catch-up and breakfast. The staff are really upbeat and cheerful, adds to the atmosphere of a chill cafe vibe. Plenty of spaces as well.
We had a lovely breakfast here with my groomsmen on my wedding day. The staff were amazing, and treated us to mimosas! The scrambled eggs with crab and croissant was luxurious. Very keen to come back and try the rest of the menu Food: 5/5
Visited Black Toast for the first time and it's such a spacious cafe, definitely didn't see it coming from the entrance. Loved the open space and service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, I particularly enjoyed the flavours of the BT Wagyu burger, juicy and packed with lots of protein! The mushroom & cheese toastie was easy to eat and would be great for those who are on the go. Last but not least, the black sticky rice pudding was a light and refreshing dish. Meal portions were great, could share between 2 comfortably. Highly recommend if you're in the Annandale area :
One of my favourite cafes in the city. I’ve been to Black Toast many times and always received a great service with delicious food and great coffee. The cafe looks small from outside but stretches a long way. Love the rusty/wooden decor. Food presentation is also great and great food options on the menu. I strongly recommend this cafe. A must try.
Why the one star review as food and service were good but to be charged $10.89 for 2 slices of toast and jam and $6.60 for a small side of avocado is somewhat over the top. A great pity as this used to be one of our favourite cafes but it seems the change of ownership might be having a negative impact. Plenty of great cafes in our own area so perhaps we stay closer to home in the future. If you look at the posted ones you will note the owner only responds to the positive reviews. If a business is to improve and values its reputation then correcting the complaints in the negative reviews are the ones that will provide the most benefit in the long run.
