Story

Since its inception in 1991, Black Swan has earned both critical and popular acclaim for its world premiere productions and highly distinctive reinterpretations of international theatre classics – all of which are infused with the unique culture of Western Australia.

Its strength lies in artist development, encouraging access and engaging with the community. The company has seen enormous growth in building audiences, building capacity and establishing a benchmark for quality productions of scale in Western Australia. Future areas of core strategic focus include artist development, education and regional engagement.

Under Artistic Director, Clare Watson, the company annually presents productions in the Studio Underground and the Health Ledger Theatre in the State Theatre Centre of WA.

The adaptation of Animal Farm was amazing, highly entertaining and added so much for those familiar with the story. The use of multimedia was fantastic. Can't wait to see more! Highly recommend.

My wife and I attended Black Swan last week to watch "The Torrents" This is the second show we have watched at Black Swan... The first one we saw was "We belong together". Both shows were amazing and we loved them both. We laughed, we cried, we learned, we loved it! Such a great experience and such professional performances. The viewing is amazing, it is a great theater, you have great views. The costumes, the props all added to the quality of the content and performances.
Perth's premiere theatre company and venue. Enjoyed Oriel Grey's 'The Torrents' twice — no bad seats in the house and a wonderful production all round! I look forward to many more visits in the future.
boutique theatre, non-for-profit. modern building, a nice foyer for mingling before and after the show. as far as repertoire goes, you can expect some good mixture of exciting exploratory type of performances - some that stimulate a discussion afterwards. In other words, if you would like to watch Hamlet as it was intended - go elsewhere; but if you're curious to see how protagonist would play it out in, say, space or during the time of dinosaurs - you're in the right spot. so, that's the food for thought. as far as your body is concerned, you may wish for more comfortable seats. this is very minor side note. I enjoyed adaptation of Euripides' Medea by by Kate Mulvany and Anne-Louise Sarks

Great facilities, welcoming staff around every corner and a schedule filled with top notch productions and world class performances.
Hard to find fault. Ladies toilet line. Otherwise accessible, comfortable and range of amenities inside and nearby.
Went for a school viewing of Much ado about nothing, and it was amazing- completely changed my perspective of theatre
