Only reason I'm giving two stars is that my sister goes to them and they're happy with them. However I found their administration skills sadly lacking. Tried to register with them. Handed in the relevant paperwork months ago. All is good we thought. Until we tried to make a booking. No record of paperwork entered and rude staff.
I did rang on the 30/10 between 3.23pm to booked my daughter immunisation. Although the fact that we handed our details & filled out their forms back in July / August. It turned out that the lady name ERIN was rudely said that she couldn't find my details in the system & pointed out to me that they're not bulk-billed service, so must paying full for first coming, which is to me implying of the money hungry & not concern of the patient basic inquiry. Then after debacle asked of how our paperwork just gone with the wind like that somewhere, she then just say that they didn't accept more patients until next January 2024 & hang up on me rudely after ran out words & couldn't gave any good courtessy. Second call was courtessy by LOU. But same old story, she did nothing except covered the lacky of her other colleague who picked-up my phone previously. Then she quickly brushed me off to forward my inquiry / OR complaint to their Admin Manager email. Just FYI, I've been worked in Customer Field for years, to me turned down & being rudely to customer was a BIG SIN which could drag the company into a bad words of mouth reputation. Truly that ERIN, who picked-up my phone wasn't trained enough of her customer-skill. Makes you wonder for whoever gave a good star to this place most probably ONLY their existing patients! If you are a new patient, better go somewhere else!
Birkdale Medical Centre - Dr. Michael Pitt, has been my GP of choice for myself and my family for over 40 years. During this time I’ve found the practice to be exceptionally well run by very good Doctors and administrative staff. I imagine the front desk to be a very stressful position at times yet I’ve always found the staff to be both professional and empathetic. Dr Pitt is an exceptional medical practitioner and I owe him a lot for my good health for a 76yo.
Best doctors I have seen. Reception staff are so lovely, the doctors are thorough and easy to talk too and my 1 year old loves them all. They are great with kids! It is abit pricey but I'm happy to pay for the best.
Absolutely disgusted in there behaviour towards new patients. Cancel my son and disabled daughters app, just to make room for regular patients. Literally gave me a msg with a 1 hr and 15 mins to call them or they’d cancel. My sister who regularly attends this practice said they are great. Just not great to ppl returning back to the area it seems.
Although their website says new patients can book through phone calls, it's not. The receptionist wasn't even apologetic when I mentioned what their website says. Don't waste your time booking a phone if you are not an existing patient!
I’ve been coming here for the past 12 years of my life and the service here is phenomenal. There are a few doctors that I would steer clear of but the nurses, receptionists and other staff are exceptional.
Been going there for over 30 years, seen nearly every doctor there over those years when my regular wasn't available. Always caring and take their time to try and give the best health advice ad service. Reception staff and nurses are always friendly even when they are being run off their feet. Won't go anywhere else.
Great medical centre with fantastic doctors. Great for those who want to have an ongoing relationship with their GP to look after their health.
My first experience of this practice was wonderful, the staff were caring and the appointment on time. My second experience was definitely not the same! My mum arrived for a visit on Saturday and quickly became unwell, she had been having palpations the day before and they had increased and she was very anxious. I immediately thought of Birkdale medical centre as I'd had a good experience. So Saturday 11am nobody in the carpark and the reception is empty except the receptionist. She greets us like we are the hundredth person to walk in her reception. We asked to see the doctor, she told us we should have gone to the doctors yesterday and she doesn't think the doctor has time as they are the only ones there. The place was empty we were the only patients! She then asks us to wait as she goes to the doctor who is sitting with the door open, they have a 10 second conversation and then she tells us to go to the hospital. The doctor didn't leave the office or check on my mum who has drastically gone down hill by then. So in the car park we call a ambulance as the hospital is a 15 minute drive and I was worried. I drove the 3 minutes home while on the phone to 000 panicked and angry that they wouldn't even check if she was having a heart attack in there reception!
