It’s a great place to watch fireworks. I saw it recommended on Red Book. In the afternoon, we set out to watch the fireworks and there was still a spot.nIt's a bit difficult to park nearby.nIf you come here to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks, it is recommended to bring a power bank, picnic mat, umbrella, garbage bag, napkin, food and jacket.
Birchgrove ParknnBirchgrove Oval is located on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour. Great views of Sydney HarbournnIt was one of the first publicly developed parks in Sydney and is one of our premier sports and recreation venues. It is regarded as the spiritual home of rugby league in Australia because it hosted the first professional match in 1908.
The oval at Birchgrove. It looks really well maintained with plenty of facilities so it gets 5/5 for that alone. The oval also has a good view of the Harbour Bridge a very short walk from the main facilities. Nice and decently priced cafe are also close by.
Good place to catch the New Years eve fireworks, the grounds were clean and kept in very good condition. The location provided view of the bridge and also the Parramatta River fireworks barge, so you get two views. Just be warned that the noise of the Parramatta River barge is very loud, if you have smaller kids bring ear muffs.nnLocal council provided more than enough portable restrooms but the local restrooms of the grounds were clean as well.
Great park. There's a large oval with cricket pitch, and batting cages, a public toilet that's usually unlocked, Bins and free doggy bags.nThere's plenty of shade around the park, especially on the walking track around it. There's a children's playground on one side across the small street and a lovely little beach with views of the Harbour bridge.nnDogs allowed everywhere, unleashed except the oval.nnThe water can get dirty, just depends on weather and clean up efforts of the locals, usually looks bad after heavy rain and at low tide.
