There's a nice stroll into the town of hoonah and some scenic totems as well as a small Harbour. If you're wondering about the gondola, it's more than the little glide above the green. Take the red, it goes straight up. Some say it's better than the zip liner.
Beautiful park with winding trails that transport you away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
This park is mostly forested with many miles of marked multi-use trails and a ton of smaller social/game trails that are fun to wander. There are several different trailheads you can start at depending on what kind of scenery you're looking for. Definitely bring bear spray and stay alert, there are lots of bears in the area. Playground: No playground. Restrooms: No public restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Most trails are for leashed dogs but there are some specific off-leash areas. These trails are frequented by several different user groups so please clean up after your dog.
One of my favorite places to just get off the beaten trail and pretend like im in the real bush. Its bit littered for my liking, and I know there is at least one questionable hobo, who you can hear the angry screams of if you listen closely enough, but hey, it's still a city after all, none the less I love this place and head out for it every free day I have.
We have had the privilege to watch our daughter play baseball here for the last four years. Starting with t-ball. We love the baseball fields. They are always clean, very well kept grass, base lines, bases, bleachers, everything. There is a great group of people behind the scenes making sure this place continues to grow and succeed. I love the feeling of safety it brings over me. There is one way in and everyone knows everyone. It’s easy to let your kid be a kid here , and I appreciate that more than anything.
Very fun, started out confused with the trails and trying to stay off the ski only paths. Once I figured out the map, there were so many trail's to take. You can make your hike a short one or go all day. Cool variety of trails, nice upkeep and great pedestrian environment.
The trails are a lot of fun. Bring bear spray, we smelled a bear and turned back. A good place to walk the dogs. We forgot the mosquito spray and needed it.
Great year-round groomed trails that feel they're in a remote wilderness. Excellent layout and design. Very large, yet manageable trail system. Can run there for many, many miles, not see the same thing, and still have easy navigation. There are several off-shoots from the main trail for more adventure once you learn the main trails. Been riding, skiing, walking, running this trail system for 10+ years and it never gets old. Only complaints are unavoidable in nature. Potential bear and moose risks. I've seen the parking lot packed several times, but there's always plenty of space on the trails. They rarely seem to be busy. Perfect for any skill level. Mostly all flat and the hills are there, but avoidable if you so choose.
A beautiful, low key, walk in the woods. I wouldn't consider any of the trails a hike per say but it was a lovely walk and lots of trails to choose from as you go deeper in.
Beautiful little trail system. Beware of moose and bears. Dog-friendliness: Yes
