The ladies in the office were very helpful, offering us local tips to enhance our stay. The Ned Kelly walking tour was an easy stroll through town and good amount of time. Chris the tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Would recommend!
Beechworth's heritage charm with cream coloured granite historical buildings & Bushrangers' lore is a definite drawcard. This building & later improved facade is a fitting place for a Visitor's Centre. Staff are helpful & welcoming. Place also retails locally made goods & detailed touring maps. Of course you can get a lot of free maps & info pamphlets.nn4 hour free parking available on both sides of the road. Town Hall is in the historical precinct & only a short walk from Beechworth centre. Everything of interest in Beechworth is walkable distance from town centre unless venturing out to Woolshed Falls.nnBuy your tix here for the 45 mins Ned Kelly Walking Trail tour which also starts here. This is a good way of learning a lot & getting a feel for the harsh reality of a small gold rush colonial settlement, Ned Kelly's life & incarceration. You can also buy tix here for the Courthouse immersive Ned Kelly Trial. Visit website or enquire ahead.nnTown Hall itself is a lovely building that reminded me of Ballarat's which is also used as a Visitor's Centre. Beechworth is one of those charming country towns where the pace of life slows, you get to see a magpie jauntily hopping across the road in front of the oncoming car & listen to the soothing sound of Church bells tolling on Sunday reverberating through the town...
One of the smaller visitor centres we’ve visited, but nonetheless, just as helpful and friendly.nThe visitor centre is actually within the Town Hall with the hall itself open for viewing.
Very helpful staff. Lots of local information available inside.nnThere's a chapel at the back which must be well aged. The honour roll on the walls shows just how much the local population contributed in both world wars.
Staff were extremely helpful, did the Gold & Ned Kelly walking tours as well as the Courthouse experience. The lady staff member advised me on the best way to get the 3 experiences as well as the Gaol tour done in the shortest time. Also helped me find accommodation at short notice. Dave my tour guide on both walking tours was very knowledgeable, answered all my questions & valued my opinions. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, highly recommend.
