The Beached Whale is a casual seaside restaurant located in Kaiteriteri. Close to the Abel Tasman we are a 45 mins. drive from sunny Nelson.

The Beached Whale is a casual seaside restaurant and bar located in Kaiteriteri.

On the doorstep of the Abel Tasman National Park we are only 20 minutes from Motueka and 45 minutes from sunny Nelson.

We are open 7 nights a week from Boxing Day until the end of April. During the winter season we open on reduced days.

The Beached Whale caters to everyone! We have a fantastic selection of local beer and wine, wood fired pizzas, takeaways and full a la carte and bar menu.

The bar has SKY TV, a pool table, fireplace and live music on request.

We have onsite accommodation available at Kaiteri Lodge. The lodge has a selection of twin, double and family rooms with ensuite bathrooms available all year round. Book online www.kaiterilodge.co.nz.

Just had green lipped mussels with Thai green curry was absolutely superb. My husband had meatlovers pizza and was very happy. Service was good. We will be back again.

Had the fish and chips, and a couple of beers which were good. Service was good, had quite a few in but everyone got served ok (mentioned coz of previous comments). Might even go back tonight for a steak!

This place is a joke. Without any notice when ordering, we then had to wait for 70 minutes for the food, and there wasn't even an apology. We asked two times about the delay and was only told "soon". Explains why you have to pay up front at the bar...

Came back again this year because last year we had the best steak ever at Beached Whale. We were looking forward to come back this year and again steak was amazing. Also service was superb. We were going to order another steak main for our son, one of bar staff was super helpful - suggested a smaller steak for him and priced it accordingly. We all loved it and will come back next year. We looking forward to it :-) Thank you beached whale, the staff and awesome steak chef.
