I have never received such rude service or felt so unwelcome at a restaurant in my life, and from the owners at that. After being chastised by both the man and his equally as awful wife, and being told we would have actually been served if we had booked I had tried to earlier that day, but no one answered the phone, my partner and I decided to walk out. I see why no one at our accommodation mentioned this as a possible place to go… Bidz Takeaways or Kaitaia. We ended up taking their advice! I never write these comments, but wanted to warn others off making the same mistake.
I have been coming here since I was a child. The hosts Raewyn and Neil are so friendly and welcoming. Good amenities, delicious food the stone grill is amazing. Great views of the beach. A beautiful part if the world!
Great location, beautiful view and good food. Great place after a long day playing at the beach. Basic accommodation but nice view. Restaurant next door helps when wanting a few wines with dinner.
Stone grill is to die for ! The other menu food is delicious as well ! Friendly service and a must to try if your out Ahipara way It has become our local restaurant and favourite place to eat

Purely psychotic owners. The female owner seemed put off by our presence. Apparently, we were talking too loudly and having fun-- which happens when you have a soul. Go to Bidz Takeaways 1 kilometer away. You won't feel like a burden, you'll save money and have fun!
Delicious food, well presented and reasonably priced. Kid-friendliness: Kid meals and some toys/board games to keep them busy Parking: Parking on site Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to deck and Restaurant was handy for my 80 year old Mum
Super amazing view, which is about where the good times ended. Seafood defrosted, not fresh at all. Seafood chowder average at best. Don't order the chowder or the seafood fettuccine. Owners forgot about us several times during the night. Didn't take our food order for around 45mins, then told us bluntly they forgot we were there. You've been warned - only sit on the far outside table if you're keen to have kamikaze beetles and moths flying at you all night and getting in your food, hair and clothes. Owners thought this was quite funny when we let them know. We changed tables halfway through our mains and it didn't really help. Stonegrill was okay, veges pretty lackluster.
Went in for some food and drinks with friends. Watresses were very friendly but the female owner was very cold and unfriendly. Food was very overpriced and poor quality. Extremely small portions for what we paid for. View was nice from the restaurant overall we were disappointed.
Did not stay at motel, just went for drinks and dinner. While the staff all seemed friendly enough the food was only sub par. My fish of the day was fresh and nice but the sides not so much. The potatoes said they would be roasted but were actually fried and super oily like they were re-fried. The vegetables were ok but it was a terribly small portion. Only a few sliced carrots and a couple bites of brocolli. Unfortunately since this is basically the only restaurant in town I recommended you ask what on the menu is actually prepared fresh to order if you intend to go.
