It was a thorough testing, but the audiologist appeared to try to scare me into buying a hearing aid. She told me in a worried tone about my "permanent hearing loss in one ear". She said my high frequency levels had declined. She then said (looking concerned) that she would send the results to my GP.... And then she asked me if I wanted to buy a hearing aid. I latter saw my results matched against results from 5 years earlier. They had told me my hearing was "normal" at the time. The new results were almost identical to those 5 years ago (with normal hearing, but with minor hearing loss in one ear.... and it turns out that high frequency hearing loss is absolutely normal as one grows older). I felt conned. That is private health care for you.
