Staff Smoko Time...I am a local resident of the area where BASScare is located and usually relish the fresh air when I'm walking around. This is with the exception of when I walk past BASScare , where I encounter facility staff on their 'Smoko' - located on the public footpath outside the driveway, or on a bench in the adjoining public park. I don't relish passive smoking, and raising this issue with the staff in question usually elicits a rude response. Taking my concerns to Managers, Nurses-in-Charge etc. has resulted in various responses, from very concerned to casual. The offenders seem to think that they can smoke in public, as long as they're off the facility - hmmmmmmmmmmm.....You really begin wonder about the staff attitudes and Duty of Care towards the elderly residents of the facility when you encounter such attitudes.
