Of course, Base is loud. Haven't seen that mentioned, but if you didn't know already, beware. This Base had clean but small rooms, and a pretty small kitchen. Definitely not big enough for the amount of people. Staff were nice and location was good, but there are many better options available

Location is nice, free WiFi until 7pm is weird but workable. Room was fine, if a bit worn. Showers were surprisingly clean, toilets weren't. Kitchen was a disaster and definitely not big enough for the number of people that base can hold. Only one working washer and dryer out of 8. Staff was friendly.

Pros: good location, central to Wanaka. Supernarket right next door. Bar is part of the hostel, good array of drinks and a free drink for each guest. Cons: Poorly staffed reception, messy and small kitchen, particularly considering the size of the hostel, flimy pillows, very evidently geared toward coach trip customers and aiming to sell as many trips, tours and experiences to you as possible. No parking available, paid public car park nearby or residential streets. Costs: WiFi $4/24 hours or $12/7 days. Laundry $4, detergent $2. Tea/coffee $1.50

Kitchen was so small for the amount of people there. Was very dirty don’t think anyone cleans it. Nothing worked. Toasters you even had to hold it down to toast your bread. Washing up liquid dispensers were all empty. Would normally not care in smaller hostels but base is a well known one, expected a bit better. Oh and rooms were small and linen had stains and rips in. Bathrooms were also pretty meh. Was happy to see the back of it. 👋🏽

Location is central! It's very big and has lot of rooms! The kitchens can have separate place and veg and non veg cooking area!
