Barchetta

About

In a prime location overlooking Cottesloe Beach, Barchetta doesn't just let the ocean waves do the romancing, offering a sumptuous variety of delicious Italian, Spanish and Mediterranean dishes.

Story

Setting
Upon visiting Barchetta for the first time the most striking feature you will notice is its location. Cottesloe Beach is the most recognisable in Western Australia and the views from Barchetta over the beach and the waters of Gage Roads, to Rottnest in the distance, are unsurpassed. For your guests, the memory of the location will stay with them forever.

The Small Boat
'Barchetta' is Italian for 'small boat'. Given the procession of yachts and motorboats that idle past on the weekends, heading towards Fremantle or marinas to the North, it is a fitting name. Barchetta is a modern and atmospheric restaurant that is perfectly suited for functions of up to 60 people sitting or 110 cocktail. Whether you are planning a wedding, anniversary, birthday, corporate launch or company party, Barchetta is the venue that will leave indelible memories with your guests. You can hire out a private area within Barchetta or even the entire venue if you so wish. Imagine the atmosphere you could create if you had the restaurant to yourself.

The Philosophy of Food
At Barchetta we've built our reputation on fresh food with a Mediterranean theme. It must be working because we see the same friendly faces time and again. With a location and outlook like ours seafood is an obvious feature and we go to great lengths to bring in the freshest produce and also free-range where possible. For your function a menu can be developed in consultation and delivered in either a set-menu or cocktail-style format. This latter choice is a very popular option entirely in keeping with the relaxed ambiance of our beautiful restaurant and the panoramic views over the Indian Ocean. Imagine your guests relaxing while their food is served against a backdrop of magenta hues from the setting sun.

"Mediterranean cuisine dished up in a relaxed, glass-walled café. Absolute beachfront location – on the beach side of the road. Our balcony is perched directly above the beach sand and has spectacular ocean views."

Barchetta .. a perfect front row seat for Perth sunsets! Definitely book .. but they do have walk-ins. The pizza are delicious and have crisp thin bases .. be prepared to eat too much. Had their crispy chicken burger and nearly melted in delight! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. In these Covid times you have to ignore their signage and wait to be seated.
Had breakfast there, the place was busy when we got there, though the food would be good, but it wasn't, we had the big breakfast and the Korean dish - Bibimbap, the food was very very average and well overpriced, the big breakfast was $31, the food not worth it! We were just paying for the ocean view. Friendly services, it is good for a coffee and a chat with beautiful ocean view, but won't go back for the food.
Beautiful views. Korean inspired dishes. I had the Korean fried chicken burger. A bit on the sweet side but it's delicious. Coffee was good. It's a bit on the pricey side
Decided to call in here to grab a coffee and decided then to not have takeaway but have a coffee and read the paper. It was a cold windy day however I sat outside on the balcony overlooking the ocean. They had heaters on outside so it was actually very nice. The coffee came and also a little cake I ordered too. It was prompt service and although busy, the service was friendly and prompt. Coffee was great and they do stock lactose free milk, so I had a 2nd coffee whilst I was there and conditioned to drink my coffee and read the newspaper. A very relaxing time. Unfortunately not a five star review due to the pigeons and seagulls hanging around trying to eat patrons food. Not much the cafe can do about that, and I suppose you really would expect that being right on the ocean front.
Our family is visiting Cottesloe for the first time, the 2nd most beautiful beach in the world. 15, Jan, 2023 My family coincidence visited this restaurant. This restaurant in such a wonderful location that there is very nice views of Cottesloe Beach. Even the food is so delicious!!! Especially, the representative Korean food, bibimbap, is good! We are lucky to have such wonderful Korean food on Cottesloe Beach! We highly recommend this place!!!
Had lunch there on the public holiday, where lucky enough to get a table outside. To enjoy the niece view. Ordering was at the counter and was quick delivered. Had the burger and the blt which was ok. The coffee was great
Great value for money. The menu isn't particularly original but it does the job. Good diversity of dishes, tasty food, cold beer and the service is both efficient and pleasant. The view from the back balcony on Cottesloe beach is breathtaking with a nice breeze. Hard to leave the place really!Food: 5/5
It’s been a long time since we last went but the quality has really declined. Maybe a good choice to just go have a drink and enjoy the sunset. But I won’t be back.
The location is amazing and the staff are really nice but…. Blinds were down so we couldn’t see the sunset.. what’s that about? Ordered a pizza as a banker and it was the worst in Perth.. this isn’t a cheap place and you’ll find better in the deep freeze. I genuinely don’t like posting a bad review but this place has everything to offer and you’ve got to ask what are they doing? Certainly not a classic Italian - not what it was a couple of years ago.
So, if you’ve ever heard the beaches in XYZ are the best, just point them to just about any area in Western Australia - like this beach - one of a continuous series north of Fremantle, the main port for the region. Perth, the capital city of WA lies just up the serpentine Swan river. Beautiful beaches, but for early explorers, convicts and settlers just barren inhospitable ground. Water from winter rains, artesian wells, and now desalination turn the whole region into greenery, and support residences, industry , and - restaurants like this. Once a shabby semi- coffee and snacks shop for beach goers, now still salt an sun worn, nevertheless an iconic money-printing restaurant for its owners. They simply won’t make any more of these places for restaurants and shops, and if you’re lucky to get an outside balcony seat, you have one of the best kept secret views in Perth. Order coffee or tea, check to see how much money you have and buy breakfast. Like all eat-out food in Australia and particularly in Perth, cheap it ain’t. AUD 30-40 will get you hot pan cakes nicely presented, two lattes, and toast. Phew! Next door at the The Blue Duck, it’s the same. How come? It’s a destination, it’s the beach, and there aren’t any others! But to sit out on the balcony, gaze at the stunning beach views, swat the occasional National bird of Australia away the ever present pesky fly is worth it. For that view, make a reservation. Super casual dress, T shirts are fine. In summer wear something on your feet - or you’ll burn your soles, and put on sun block. Skin cancer is epidemic. Further advice on WA and Perth: go as a planned tourist agenda, if you don’t know someone it can seem lonely, to get in with the inside flow find some common thread, eg, car club, dive group, sailing all over the Swan river. For example if you sail and can race, on the weekends go to the Freshwater bay YC, and sign up for crew. With luck you’ll get a friendly skipper and get a real “in” to the social side of Perth. Good luck!
