Bar Totti’s is in the hustle and bustle of Sydney City, George Street. Its Italian-style food is so popular that reservations is a must, otherwise you may need to wait it line for their delicious house-made antipasti. The signature wood-fired bread was so fresh and fluffy, that not only was it enjoyable to eat but the smoky flavour paired really well with the creaminess of burrata and mozzarella cheese. Perfectly paired with the fresh tomatoes, it added a juicy sweetness and freshness to the palette. The prosciutto and mortadella was light and savoury which melted in the mouth. Mix it all together in one bite, and you get the perfect harmony of texture and flavour that isn’t overly heavy in the stomach. The lamb ragu was also cooked well, the hand-made noodles were al dente and had a generous amount of tender lamb meat.nnOverall, a place that is worth the hype for Italian pasta, share plates and wood-fired bread !
I recently dined solo at Bar Totti’s in the Sydney CBD. I was seated outside in the alley, which unfortunately meant dealing with quite a bit of noise and disruption from nearby venues.nnThe food started off strong. The antipasti was delicious, and the pappardelle pasta was rich and perfectly cooked. The kitchen is clearly capable of delivering high quality dishes.nnHowever, the service completely overshadowed the experience. I waited around 20 minutes for the antipasti and then another 45 minutes for the pasta, with no communication about the delays. Dining alone makes you especially aware of timing, and the long gaps made the meal feel unnecessarily dragged out.nnThe man serving me seemed completely disengaged, with no smile, no interaction, and a very nonchalant attitude throughout. He did not check in once, and when I politely asked if I could move to another table, my request was ignored. Since I was seated outside, drunk partygoers from the club next door were repeatedly catcalling him throughout the afternoon, which created an awkward and chaotic atmosphere. It happened many times and became quite distracting. Regardless of what was happening around him, that should not translate into poor service or dismissive behaviour toward paying customers.nnTo end the meal, I ordered the tiramisu, which was unfortunately disappointing. It lacked flavour and did not live up to the standard set by the earlier dishes.nnI honestly felt invisible the entire time. It is disappointing because there is clearly potential here, but the inconsistent service and underwhelming dessert left a sour final impression
On my second visit, I had mixed feelings.nThe first time, four adults went together. The staff were friendly and the food was great, which is why I decided to come back with my daughters.nMost of the dishes were still good, but while eating the vongole pasta, I kept biting into small pieces of shell. I had to spit them out into a napkin as I ate. I thought to myself that I should never order this menu again, but I didn’t say anything to the staff.nHowever, when I paid the bill of $137.50 by card, I couldn’t forget the unpleasant look from a young white woman at the counter. It made me feel as if she didn’t like the way my children and I were dressed.
This restaurant was amazing loved the atmosphere, customer service was incredible and food service was fast. Celebrated my birthday here for the first time after hearing great things about this place. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. The wood-fire bread was beautiful soft and crunchy at the same time. Pasta was incredible so much flavour! Would definitely recommend! Would also highly recommend to make a reservation as they do get very busy it’s a popular place!
Came to Bar Totti on New Year’s Day because I apparently enjoy controlled chaos. The place was absolutely packed — no booking means you’re gambling on a good hour wait if luck is on your side. That said, once seated it’s surprisingly comfortable and pram-friendly, which feels like a minor miracle given the crowd.nnThe food? No misses. All the pastas hit, but the fettuccine is the clear standout — rich, silky, and gone before you realise what’s happened.nnThe bread is mandatory. Not optional. Order it and use it to wipe every last drop of sauce off the plate like a true professional. Add the smoked ling dip and suddenly the table goes quiet — everyone’s too busy scooping.nnDespite the New Year madness, service held up well and dishes came out fast enough to erase the wait-time trauma.nnBonus points for sitting outside watching the crowd flow past — honestly not a bad way to spend New Year’s Day with good food and a full table.nnBusy, loud, chaotic — and absolutely worth it. Book ahead or bring patience and an appetite.
