Old Shanghai Visited on 26/5/2022 One can walk pass this gem quite easily in the day time. The signs nothing that grabs your attention. It is food court with 2 rows of food and beverage stalls on opposing sides. The middle is an aisle of dining tables and chairs. This has a hallmark of a Asian food court with 4 rows of red lanterns hung from the ceiling. There are mainly Asian food stalls, with an additional one selling burgers and another selling alcoholic beverages. It is either late for lunch, or the food court may still be suffering from the after effect of the lockdown. It is so quiet and I can hear a pin drop. We, a group of 4 hungry food hunters, decide to try something to substantial but flavoursome. We settle for Korean food from Hwaing Korean Kitchen see separate review and a beer from the Bar which has no name.
We had pho from Phovela for14.50. This shop is newly opened and it has another one at St George Ter. The broth was filled with herbal and spice aroma and extra textures of bean sprouts, cooked slice onions, and cilantro. What I like the most in this serving is the variety of beefs, brisket meats and beef balls provided. They also had other basic condiments at the counter like soy sauce, sirancha, peppers although I'd always like to eat my pho how it is originally served without adding in any other flavours. A great experience. They also have other dishes in the menu like banh mi, broken rice with grilled pork, spring rolls, bao, and so much more. Cant wait to come back and try out soon.
I've been coming here since I was a kid. Food selection covers everything from Hood Burger to Hong Kong style street foods. Prices are excellent, portions at all places are generous, and the atmosphere is good and very family friendly. I make it a point to get rice flour dumplings from the place on the far left corner near the back wall every time I'm in Northbridge and never regret it. Disability accessible and very clean.
I don’t really recommend this place the food here is just average standard.Price is also xx. I order one noddles and I only manage to eat half throw the rest away as it don’t suit me
We went in here and had some fried rice and coffee at the Thai Coffee House & Salad Bar stall, and it was absolutely amazing. The prices were on par with other similar food stalls, and the food we ate and drinks we drank were absolutely divine. I haven’t had a chance to try some of the other stalls, but I’m sure they’ll be just as good :
Great priced food arcade Korean and Indian both fantastic and cold beer Chinese satay shop let it down, not great flavours unfortunately
Was recommended this spot by a local and was pleasantly surprised. This is where locals go to eat! There's a great variety of cuisines, nice casual atmosphere, and it's not too far from the city center.
Old Shanghai is the place to go with a group of people who can't make up their mind on where to eat. With a good range of Asian and western restaurants, everyone will be able to find something of their choosing. Includes a bar so you can have a drink with your meal and be ready for where the rest of the night takes you. Kept clean and tidy with a good atmosphere.
Inside the Old Shanghai Asian food court is the most satisfying burger & chicken stalls Perth has to offer, Hood Burger. Buns are fresh, patties are moist and not fatty, fries are crispy and seasoned nicely, double cheese is essential to make sure you feel like you didn't miss out on any calories! Deep fried chicken strips are crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The blue cheese sauce and queso sauces are great for dipping your chicken, chips and hell the burgers in. There is also a Bar in the food court that serves tap beer and most drinks at reasonable prices to keep you hydrated!
Now that it has undergone small renovations inside... The Old Shanghai is a great place to enjoy a wide selection of food, including Chinese, Malaysian, Indian or Hong Kong.. The servings are always plenty anx the cuisine is well presented as seen in my photographs...!! It has a wonderful atmosphere, especially on the weekends & week nights.. It is quiet during the days for those looking for a quiet place to have lunch... The bar is open from 12pm... You can enjoy a great selection of beers on tap, or a drink of spirits from behind the bar... The service is friendly and the floor staff are wonderful...!! A great place to enjoy with a large group of people, or an intimate experience if you're on a date... It has outside seating and clean toilet facilities inside, there is also a wheel chair accessible toilet..
