An excellent feed with friends after a show at the Powerhouse. Had fun with a great menu and wine list that could be shared easily.
Inside the Powerhouse you will find the Bar Alto. Nice ambiance inside and very relaxed outside. People were raving about the lamb but we have booked elsewhere to eat. We had some drinks here to meet a friend of mine. We had mocktail to start with. Virgin mary is quite interesting! It gets better as you keep drinking it.
We recently booked the private dining space at Bar Alto for a small dinner following our wedding ceremony. The view was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff were amazing. They were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Service and attention was fantastic. Great wine choice and cold beer which is essential. But please take the duck pasta off the menu or put it in the premi and price it at $16-$18 which is still far too much for the poor excuse of a main meal of $36 dollars. The five tiny pasta parcels with a cheese filling had the most minute 3cm thin slivers of fig and No duck slivers to be seen or tasted. The other Prawn squid pasta was very delicious and we were thankful to have ordered it. Otherwise we would have left starving for a meal.
HIGHLY disappointing and OVER PRICED!!! We were a table of 6. We all ordered a simple, market fish of the day, served with a splash of beetroot juice and a fine slice or 2 of beetroot, THAT'S IT!!!! Our plates looked pretty dire when put in front of us! Sad to say all of our fish was dry and over cooked!! Our entree's were nothing to write home about either. We ordered anchovies for entrees!! The presentation was awful as the anchovies were literally served from the jar drowned in a plate of oil. Unfortunately we left Bar Alto feeling ripped off and still hungry. The only positive out of this was the great service from the wait staff!! Nothing first class about this restaurant, and therefore do NOT recommend it!!
Has a really good range of highly drinkable beverages. Often busy but the staff are pretty cool cats and they get through it. Food is quick and people seem to love it.
Wonderful lunch, great food. Only the waiter who still seemed to be learning put a little dampener on things...that was until the end when we got the bill and realised when we ordered the Soave he had gotten us the most expensive one not the moderate option we had pointed to. When calling this out when paying we were told we should have checked this when given the wine even though it was never kept on our table. Fair enough. Something I will now pay careful attention to in future though it hasn't been necessary in 20+ years of dining. Slowly learning the tricks of the trade. Still lovely food and worth a visit. Just double check what you order is what you get.
Wonderful location on the river with plenty of outdoor seating. Had a bite to eat before a show and the pizza was tasty. Not a huge selection of beers on tap, service was quick though. The Italian sausage pizza was a bit dry and flavorless but the prosciutto pizza was yummy. Overall a good place to come of you’re already at be powerhouse
Our go to place. Location is fantastic. Wine and Beer selection is excellent. Staff are amazing. We've eaten here often and have never been disappointed and we will continue to come back.
Great food, good wine and awesome view. We have been here multiple times over the years and it never disappoints. Even caters for fussy kids.
