Our group of 4 dropped by about 30 mins before closing on a Thursday night. The food came out really quick and the quality was impressive. I recommend the crispy beef. Our spend was ~$35 per head and it was the perfect amount. Table service was patient and friendly. Worth the travel to Gawler.
A long wait for poor quality food and servers who did not apologise nor check on our table. We made a reservation on Saturday, 7 January for 630pm. We showed up early, there were four other tables but they were doing a reasonable take-away trade. It took us an hour to get our food - other tables were also delayed and not happy about it. When we did get our food, it was awful. The frying oil must have been too cold because anything deep fried was soggy. The lemon sauce for the lemon chicken tasted like it came from a jar - the bottom of the jar. The sambal prawns had nice prawns, but the sauce tasted like it hadn't simmered long enough. The noodle dish barely had any noodles it was if they ran out. Neither of the servers checked to see if we had enjoyed our food. I brought the lemon chicken up to show we had only had one mouthful and that we weren't going to pay for it. The chef was loudly dismissive, the servers didn't apologise but they did take it off our bill after making us wait while they added things up by hand their systems are as tired and dated as their décor - I appreciate kitsch, but things were tired and paint was peeling. Parking: Free, a reasonable amount when we went but they are situated next to a movie theatre, so I'd imagine you'd be fighting for a space when films are showing. Not worth the trouble.
Recommended by friends…… first and last time! When you order 3x crispy beef the same dish at 5:30pm when you open…. Then get told to pick up at 6:10pm shocked only to rock up then and find they haven’t even started it yet. The daughter said her dad had to wait to get the oil hot. Ok so people it takes 45 minutes to heat up shallow oil to fry crispy beef. Wish I could say it was busy but I can now see why you only had 2x family members dining inside. When questioned try looking at the customer and apologizing. It will get you far….. lies, long wait times and blank facial expressions will only lead you to centerlink.
Had fish cakes as a on entree they tasted like they had been reheated. To say they tasted horrible would be an understatement. Had to wait so long for it to be served up as well. Mains waiting around an hour. It's the first place I have ever cancelled the order and left starving. Table next to us was also complaining about the wait for food. The rice they were served was cold and they asked for it to reheated. I would definitely give this place a miss
Friendly staff offering good service, unfortunately the wait times can be a little long. That being said, the food is delicious. Freshly prepared and served in a quaint environment. Wheelchair parking and access is available, although the entrance may be tight for some wheelchairs.
Food is good at best. The service though is absolutely trash! Don’t bother eating in you’ll be waiting an hour for an entree and to order take out I Called 33 times and nobody answered the phone. When it was answered they hung up. I’ll take my money elsewhere.
Great food but a bit tight on the servings and for the price
Great food and obvious effort has been put into the ambiance. Service was a bit too relaxed was over 10mins before they took our order, and they weren't serving anyone else, we could see them chatting in the kitchen but couldn't get their attention as they never once looked over at the customer tables but servers were friendly and helpful besides that. My partner had the lemongrass chicken which was fantastic, and I had the honey chicken which was very nice at first but I think needs to be ordered as a shared dish rather than a main as it's a bit bland and oily when it's the only thing you're eating. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we will probably be returning there in future.
The food was lovely but sadly no rotis on the day we went.
WARNING: You need to call at least an hour ahead to order. If the phone keeps ringing out they are just too busy. They have only a tiny kitchen, but what a kitchen! Fresh & tasty Thai & Chinese food. All ingredients taste fresh & the serves are generous. The staff are helpful & polite & do the best they can with the limitations of such a small kitchen & prep area. Eat in only on weekdays if you must - you will need lots of time if you try a weekend. They are predominantly takeaway.
