Chill vibe. Very seniors friendly. On-street parking is a mixed bag. Catch an early session to get a cinema to yourself.
What a beautiful nostalgic theatre! I love coming here and the Westgarth for a trip back in time for special movies! We were in cinema 4, beautiful boutique size with blue velour high seats. They were super comfy with cupholders, but to be honest, I wish they reclined just a little bit. The cafe and bar at the front he's awesome and you can't go past a coffee and panettone and also not forgetting the olive oil popcorn! Beautiful theatre! As for street parking, there is some three hour carparks that you might be lucky to get. Otherwise if it's going to be a busy night at the theatre you're best off parking in the sidestreet.
Old and outdated cinema. A lot of things are out of order, small seats, loud aircon, no cleaning done in between movies. Found seats full of popcorn as well as the whole carpet floor throughout. Watched “A quiet place” and it was definite not quiet. Will not return.
We do enjoy the cinemas in a beautiful art deco building and the friendly staff, but could you please look at repairing the downstairs female toilets-one out of order, one has a door which can't be closed and the hand dryer works intermittently.
Great venue. We went on a Tuesday night and it was not busy. Customer service was friendly and helpful.
Lovely historic art deco building. Comfortable seats, great audio, good size theatres. Nice selection of films including festivals - Spanish, French, German, English etc.
This is my favourite cinema. Great looking theatre. Very old world charm. And the best part is you can always get a yummy chocolate top ice cream.
Saw a foreign film in a very small cozy cinema with friends. Was like being at home! Comfortable seats with swivel tables. Good sound.
My husband and I booked tickets onlineon the 26/3 to see the movie Cabrini today Sunday 31/3 at the Palace Balwyn. We had taken our seats in the cinema and watching the trailers before the movie when we were approached by 3 ladies who said that we had one of their seats. I told one of the ladies that we had booked 6 days ago online and I showed her my email on my iPhone and the seat numbers. I believe that they purchased their tickets only today. Then one of the staff members approached my husband and I, after one of the ladies went to complain, showed him our email booking. After about 10 minutes or so the staff member and another staff member told us that we had to leave as we had cancelled our booking yesterday. They would give us 2 complimentary tickets. We were shocked and we told them that we wanted a refund. They gave us $35 cash. When I got home I checked our Visa card and we had paid $40.90. So they even short changed us. Also, how could we have cancelled when on the booking email it says “This ticket is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another session”. Also, according to your Terms and Conditions it provides the following: 3.6 Movie tickets purchased via this Website are non-refundable and are not available for exchange unless required by law. My husband, who is, was a lawyer for many years always reads things and was aware of this clause, and tried to explain that we would not have cancelled, but given the circumstances insisted on us getting a refund. Also, reading other customer’s reviews I see that we are not alone with our criticism, with others saying that staff lied to them, being rude etc. Very disappointed with the Palace Cinema in Balwyn and staff are very rude. If I could give a no star rating I would! My husband will be reporting this to senior management. We will never step into the Palace Balwyn again!
Customer service is epic, its when you can ask a simple question and get the simple solution that brings me back to this classic establishment who treat their clients with class. Kudos to the front runners!
