$41 certainly doesn't get you much these days at Balga Fish and Chips. Used to be great, but their prices have gone up and serving sizes have gone way way down. No food has been eaten yet, there are 30 chips at best in this box. Will I be coming here again? Easy answer is no.
23/4/23 I ordered special for 3 + extra crab sticks, cost $41. This has become the worst fish n chips place I have been to. Batter in all was so thick that we actually felt sick after eating it. Pic below is the amount of chips for 3 people. Other pic is extra $5 chips
Ordered grilled fish, snapper fried, cheese sausage and $10 worth of chips. Both grilled fish and the fried fish was a a very small piece and was very dry. Cheeses sausages was ok and the chips did taste very nice but there was maybe 2 handful of chips. Definitely not $10 worth. Wasn’t worth over $60 what I payed for it. You get better quality and quantity at other fish and chips else where.
Last night we ordered the special of 3, 3 extra crab sticks and an extra $5 worrh of chips, over $40. This has become the worst fish and chips place i have been to. The batter on the fish Snapper upgrade, Din Sims and Crab sticks was so thick and dry that my family actually took most of it off before eating it. The amount of chips we got in the box for 3 was probably 1 servings worth. I actually felt sick after eating some of the batter.
Wow this is the worst fish and chips! The batter is so bad, the fish was dry and very fishy for shark I'm guessing was old. the chips ok but serving size was small. Crabsticks so bad and shrivelled like they had been under warmer all day. I didn't eat it and wouldn't serve it to my kids or even my dog ...the lot went in the bin
This fish and chips has gone so bad, bought the four people box,hardly any chips and plus another $5 worth of chips bought it to $47 and the fish is half the size and so dry now.This place yous to be good but now its horrible. Thats our last time going there.
Not very happy with the amount of chips... This is meant to be $4 worth. I ordered 3 fish, $4 chips, 5 crab sticks and 20 squid rings which cost me $49. I realised when I went to collect them that it would have been $5 cheaper to order as 3 fish, $4 chips 3 crab sticks for $29 and pay the extra for 2 more crab sticks and the squid rings. I mentioned it to the guy that served me, he worked it out and said, "your right, you should order it that way next time", sorry no money back and to top it off, I get back home to find this lousy amount of chips + the squid rings had way too much batter. :
Very disappointed tbh, went in with my childerns change to get them an after school snack and was denied due to paying with change 50c's very upset childern and the lady didnt seem to care at all will not be returning.
Great fish and Chips at a reasonable price. Batter was light and not oily. Ordered the seafood Platter, additional oysters and a Snapper. Very good
Tried Balga fish and chips for the first time today. Phone order take away. It was so quick, less than 10 mins. And I’m blown away at how good it was! Wrapped very well to preserve the meal, the fish is not stingy and thick enough with light crispy batter that you can tell has been perfected in time and usage of fresh, excellent quality ingredients. It’s close to my home and I am certain this will be a staple multiple times a week, for a price point that’s also way better than going anywhere near Hilary’s. They also serve chicken cheese sausage which we tried and did not disappoint. They also have fresh fried chicken and other fried meat goodness. I will be coming back again and again and I’ll recommend to as many as I can. Parking: Lots of parking and has IGA, chemist and medical centre beside it.
