There are two 2 tennis courts located in Baker Park which are very well maintained by Randwick Council. They have synthetic grass but are also covered with sand because of the area. The sand makes you slide as you run around the court so be careful. They are FREE to use which is amazing. Just bring your tennis rackets and balls. If there are people playing, you just need to wait around until they finish. Generally, most people will play for an hour and then give the court to the next people waiting. There is a toilet shed with seating and shelter from the sun and rain. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy the view over Coogee and watch the sunrise over the ocean. There is also free parking on Dudley Street where you can park your car. The Baker Park Tennis Courts are available for use free of charge. Council staff open the gates each morning and lock the gates in the evening. Although court bookings are not required, the following conditions of use apply: 1. The courts are available use by the general public, no commercial coaching is to occur at these courts. 2. The courts are to be used for a maximum period of one hour. Please show respect to other users and make the court available after 1 hour of use. 3. The tennis courts are to be left clean after use. Please take your rubbish with you and dispose of it properly. 4. No smoking or alcohol permitted on the tennis courts. 5. No wheeled vehicles allowed for example skateboards, bicycles, in-line skates, scooters on the tennis courts.
Could definitely use a carpet renovation, there is some big holes and bumps in the court. But being a free court its good enough.
Free astroturf tennis courts in the heart of Coogee. Pretty good quality nets and surface covering. No overhead lights, so you can only play during the day. Etiquette is to limit your play to one hour, especially when others are waiting. There is also plenty of parking on the surrounding streets.
I am using those courts with my partner for a while. The best thing is it they are free. For example I am also playing social tennis at Centennial Parklands and it is $20 for 2 hours. The main problems U would say courts are not in perfect condition, each court you cannot take for more, than 1hour if someone waiting and after 5pm there are too many people waiting,so there is no chance to step in to play. Especially winter time, when it is becoming to be dark early, but there is no any artificial lighting.
If you are prepared to wait a bit, these courts are the cheapest courts around and not bad at all They're in a great place. It's a great park with a playground for the kids to play in while you play tennis too.
Beautiful setting for a game of tennis. The small downside, the courts are East-West facing.
Nice clean park in a great location, however the tennis courts are in dire need of repairs.
Good to have a park in Coogee, but this is mainly a park full of dog poop. People should be educated.
All ways go there great courts after they just fixed them now
Excellent lawn tennis facility in Coogee for free!!!
