Arrived late for dinner and no problems accomodating us. Great tasting food. Quick and easy. Wine was a great price too. Had Lamb Shank, kids chicken nuggets, Chicken club sandwich and the special spaghetti bolognaise. All were delicious
I had seafood chowder the flavour was nice but consistency was running so more of a soup than a chowder and still trying to find the seafood in it. It would be nice to have some big pieces of seafood in a dish not just chopped onion and small flakes that you couldn't tell what they were. The staff were friendly and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Would go back and try other meal options as what came from the kitchen for other diners looked rather tasty and the prices were reasonable for the size of the meals.
The service was lovely and prompt. I liked the atmosphere: was spaced out with comfy booth type seating against windows was warm though. Enough space for multiple families with little kids to be themselves, and private-ish boothes to eat in as much peace as needed. Two fireplaces - one with seating. The lamb shanks / mash / broccoli was nice. The bathrooms were large, lovely, and clean this place is attached to a function centre. And OMW the brownie for dessert was just what I needed. They had warm mulled wine on offer, unfortunately I need all my faculties in place so was not able to try at this time. Kid-friendliness: Large place. Multiple families with infants / toddlers / high chairs / kids menu. Parking: There is angle parking out the front.
We got to Bailiez at around 7 pm on 04/01/23 and lined up to get a table, as other places told us that they were booked out, Bailiez has a first come first serve policy. They provided a table for 3, but informed us a tour group would be on their way and the food would be delayed when they arrived, which we accepted, they told us about an hour wait for food. So we ordered some tasty local beer and ordered our meals. We were told the tour group had arrived so our meals could be delayed, but turns out it was only about the hour, which was great as they were clearly very, very busy. The waiter, Tom, was very informative and kept us updated the whole time. His service was excellent and we even had some banter with him. The food was fantastic, 3 meals arrived together, all warm and ready to eat. High quality food for a pub like setting. I had the venison medallions which melted in my mouth. Would recommend, especially if you have trouble elsewhere in Te Anau. Dietary restrictions: They were accommodating for my friends gf & df requirement.
One of the very few places still open when we were searching for a dinner place at 6pm. Staff were warm and friendly. Food was decent.
Great place to dine after visiting Milford Sound. Food was great and portions were generous!
Everywhere is short staffed and working very hard but these guys go to all lengths to help us get a meal. The food was delicious and all managed to come out together while being proper hot, despite the hour wait. Props to the whole team when many places are turning customers away!
Called in here 3x during our stay - dinner, breakfast and then just coffee. Great place. Great staff. Great food. Definitely recommend
The staff were so confused. Our waitress did not know what a lemon lime bitters with gin was. English wasn’t her first language. The surf and turf pic taken was strange with the pineapple/jalapeño/corn salsa. And prawns on top? My friend ordered the large venison meal and felt there was too many things going on. Including raisins? With venison? And finally I had a debit card so could’ve used eftpos but the staff was quite insistent on it being a credit card to incur the 2% surcharge. I think you need to be a bit more transparent with that.
We ate here twice during a 3-night stay. Very nice stuffed chicken with coconut glaze, and burgers are very good. Salmon pasta was alright. The salmon was well cooked, but the pasta sauce was bland. Overall, very nice place.
