Cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in yet. They clean the kitchen and the bathrooms daily. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. There are lots of covered places to sit and eat outside and inside, a comfy area to chill and watch a movie together, a pool and a pool table. The rooms have a good size and the vibe is very nice.Rooms: 5/5
Best backpackers I've stayed at so far on my trip around Australia. Cleaned regularly and throughly, includes pool, pool table and plenty of sheltered outdoor seating. Rooms are a good size so you don't feel too packed in. Great vibe. Only thing I would add is a shower curtain to separate the dressing area from the wet area better.Rooms: 5/5
Unfortunately not my cup of tea. It's clean but they have absurd rules for me. To start with, you can only check in from 2 pm not even 15 min before when there is beds ready I've seen it. Kitchen is closed from 10:30 to 12:00. Laundry from 3 to 9pm only. If you want to stay a couple of hours after checking out they make you pay! Like what?. Swimming pool has this cable inside, so I'm not sure if you can still swim. Outdoors area closes at 9pm. There is no much room to sit and work or do anything in your laptop. Only two tables inside that people use for eating. Kitchen is small and only one stove for all people and it doesn't even work that well. It seems like all the tables outside are for for smoking and vaping. Staff are friendly and make sure you follow the rules they have including chasing to clean and put things away after you cooked Can't complain about that. I hope they get rewarded because working there seems to be managing a children playground. Rooms: Rooms are kept clean but no lockers or any furniture where to leave your things. So most of the rooms have a lot of stuff on the floor. There is power points every where tho Nearby activities: Beach is far compare with other backpackers in the area. If you are on holidays, I recommend the other one. Also more affordable. Walkability: Close to the train station. Food & drinks: Drinks and food not allowed in rooms.

Stayed at Backpackers Newcastle over 2 nights for a local music festival. The staff were incredibly accomodating for our group of 12, putting us altogether over 2x 6 person dorm rooms. The rooms were adequate & as we were expecting, with clean bathroom facilities at the end of our hallway, wonderful common areas, friendly staff. First ever hostel/backpacker accomodation experience and couldn't recommend Backpackers Newcastle any higher! Can't wait to return the next time our group finds ourselves in Newcastle.
Management was excellent.The place is really neat, tidy and most importantly clean. They have a great system of doing things. If there are any backpackers out there looking for a place in Newcastle this is one that you can give a try.Rooms: 5/5
Surprised this place is even operating, during our stay we experience 1 _belonging were stolen 2 _police came in chasing one of the workers because of kidnapped school girl. 3 _ someone was unerating inside the bedroom. 4_ owner and reception were checking CCTV and exposing other resident privacy and making fun about it. 5_ owner was discriminating one gentleman and making him very uncomfortable so he ended up leaving after 10 minutes of checking in.
It was a great experience. Met some good people there. The place is really neat, tidy and most importantly clean. They have a great system of doing things. If there are any backpackers out there looking for a place in Newcastle this is one that you can give a try.
