Beautiful cafe in a peaceful small town. Worth to visit and wanting to go again anytime.
I have been to Avalon of Woodside several times for brekky and a coffee. I’m pleased to say I’m never disappointed! As a Big Breakfast enthusiast, the “Hills Gourmet Breakfast” really hits the spot with all items you’d expect from a big breakfast cooked beautifully. The service is also something to write about, as I’m always greeted with a smile upon entry and made to feel at home. The building itself is quirky with a “nothing matches” charm. I had a bit of fun today playing with the amusements in the table. I will look forward to my next visit! Thank you so much for having me!
We were in Woodside for lunch today and thought we would pop in for lunch. It seemed like quite a cute cafe in an old heritage building with lots of outdoor seating in a garden like surround. However the plantings were a bit neglected and the chairs and tables under the tree at the front were very scruffy and the ground was covered in weeds which were all going to seed not a good place to sit if you're wearing summer sandals! There is a small area at the back but it seemed like people hadn't used this area for a while with the chairs and tables quite dirty and covered in leaf matter and cobwebs. We ended up sitting inside which was cute with mismatched furniture and crockery, art on the walls, soft music and quirky ornaments. The place seemed popular but service was slow, which could be a staffing issue today 30 Dec but it wasn't explained. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait but it was about double that. The food was good, we had a combination of breakfast and lunch dishes and they all used very fresh ingredients. We did hear that a number of vegetarian items on the menu had already sold out at 1pm which was disappointing. Other customers were also waiting a long time for their orders and we did witness someone complain twice. The biggest criticism though was the chocolate milkshakes which used powdered chocolate which wasn't even dissolved. My son refused to finish his. The kids menu offerings are limited to a cheese toastie or banana bread so we ordered from the main menu for our almost 7yo. One thing we did love was that there was a whole heap of little games and logic puzzles on the tables which kept us amused. I wanted to love this place but it fell short unfortunately although the food was a redeeming factor.
Lovely food, recommend the eggs benedict and the salad was the freshest I've ever had! Charming building worth a look through upstairs and in the courtyard. Can't wait to come back to try the specials :Food: 5/5
We are locals & just love coming here! It’s a relaxed environment with outstanding food & drinks. Today l noticed the ‘Sicilian apple cake’ on display & ordered some for later, and boy it was DELICIOUS! Lovely staff too. Thank you Avalon
I love the vintage European theme. It's quite cool even though I was a very hot day. Staffs were lovely. The food was delicious, however the oil or butter on my toast has a rancid smell.
Adorable little cafe hidden off the main road. Plenty of signs around to find though! Lovely friendly service and super quick, such an efficient little team here and they were fantastic! Great prices for great quality here! A little more maple syrup wouldve been nice with the pancakes. Recommend!
Oh wow this hidden cafe was interesting, We been here a month ago with my friends a bit lil” hard to find and must open the google map hehe I love the setting, vintage style, cosy cafe, good food+ plate presentation. Main event was the table amusement that also entertained us from the start we sat down til we finished lovely, definitely we love to come visit again. Thanks Avalon. Kid-friendliness:
Set back off Onkaparinga rd in Woodside is this quaint country manor like Cafe. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, making all who enter feel welcomed. My only constructive criticism is that maybe the owners are somewhat new to the hospitality industry. 'Owner Dad' who was working the coffee machine may need a little training as my short Mac was more like a long black and my daughters hot choc was scolding yes I did mention it was for a child. On the flip side the toasties were nice and the others breakfast meals I spotted exiting the kitchen looked great & the price point seemed more than reasonable. Even though there are some kinks to be ironed out, this place definitely has the making to be a Hills favourite.
Definitely you must come here. Nice homemade foodie and great coffee. Well priced and more than enough on your plate. Very highly recommended for breakfast!!
