Used Auto Europe to hire a car from Euro Car. Even though on my conformation the balance was zero, Europe car charged me an extra 30% when I picked up car. They called is a Premium Location Surcharge and said all the car rental companies at Sydney airport charge this fee.

This a complete lie and a money grab. I have been renting cars from the airport for 20 years and this is the first time it happened. 

It is a clear cash grab and nothing can be found in writing support this so called Premium Location Surcharge.

As a matter of fact only 7 days earlier I hired a car from Enterprise (the booth next to Europe car) and there was no such charge. 

These people who work there, work with this bunch of thieves to generate extra revenue. Just like flight centre they all work on commission. 

Just a foot note, the car was not full, dirty and had rubbish throughout. 

Stay away from both Europe car and Auto Europe.

Don't use this company.  They do not tell you all the costs you end up having to pay when you collect your vehicle.  We knew we had to pay a one way fee and were happy to do that, but were charged an extra AUS$112 location fee, plus a contract fee plus taxes! All this was not told to us until we went to collect the car at Enterprise.  Despite complaints Auto Europe say that this is correct. Definitely steer clear of Auto Europe - we will not use them again if they can't be transparent about the costs.

Very poor customer service. Eben though payment details were entered and all seemed fine, the system did not make the booking right away and had no email confirmation whatsoever (even to say we will confirm your booking shortly or something similar). I had to call and (painfully) give my details for them to retrieve a voucher number. Very poor manners on the phone as well. I have been on hold for 5 minutes but I'm not sure if the customer service representative have hung up or not. And as i was writing the call dropped. Atrocious.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Received confirmed reservation email with voucher. Then received many hours later 2nd email stating reservation not available and tried offering a more expensive option and stated . When questioned, they stated reservation was never confirmed - even though we had email to prove otherwise!
We have now been chasing for the charged amounts on our cards for multiple reservations cancelled for nearly 3 weeks. Have even received responses stating the amount has been refunded when it hadn't.
Even when a reservation is only booked and not confirmed they will charge your card.
Suggest to avoid the hassle as they are incompetent, incorrect, unable to follow through and tripping over themselves to do or get anything right: except caused issues and headaches for their (past) customers!
Far better car booking sites out there.

Very deceptive pricing! I booked online and the balance due on delivery was 850 AUD..  i read the confirmation voucher fully to confirm what was excluded in the rental price and none of those items apply in my case. So i was expecting to pay the 780 AUD + the car seat which i booked (70 AUD). Upon arrival and checking in.. i ended up paying 1347 AUD!!  This is almost a 55% hidden cost. The checkin with with Europecar and the employee said that there is an airport fee, VRRF, local taxes which i had to pay and none of this is mentioned on the original booking confirmation
