I started attending the Overcoming Problems course after having many unexpected changes in my life and unsuccessfully trying many different ways to deal with those changes. Gen Chris Yangchen's teachings are the only thing that have made any kind of real positive impact in my life. They have helped me to understand why I had not been coping and have given me the opportunity to find true happiness in life. The classes have also improved my relationships with others and when new health issues arose I was able to cope with them much better than I had in the past. I'm so grateful for Gen-la's teachings, I would recommend them to everyone.
did the course and the experience by far exceeded what I thought is possible. I didn't realise the depth of these teachings until after a while I started to notice relationships improve and anger and fear disintegrate, seemingly 'naturally'. How did that happen? Experiencing the understanding and wisdom and the kind-heartedness of this extraordinary teacher somehow subtly developed more awareness, understanding and empathy in me, and before I knew it I felt happier and more relaxed. Probably also saved my marriage and I shall be always grateful that I had found this priceless gem.
Since attending this course my life has improved in a subtle albeit infusing way. I have started to notice things that used to pass me by, an ability that comes in particularly handy when it's about emotions, thought patterns, judgments and decisions, which rule our life and contribute - or rather diminish - happiness more than anything. In a nutshell, this course provides more and better armamentarium to scrutinise, challenge and doff obstacles in our mind than psychology, ethics and philosophy. This used to be called wisdom and compassion, sadly both have gone out of fashion and by now seem to require explanation. Of course neither can be learned online or from books, which makes this course quite different from ordinary learning, as the focus is on empowerment to investigate and check for yourself. With our different walks of life this education of the heart can only be personal and individual, which brings us the the ancient tradition of Buddhist masters. Culturally translate this tradition into today's English while keeping it's authenticity and you get something exquisitely rare that is more precious than ever. Apart from that, and quite practically, the changes in my mind helped me as a dad to raise my child with relaxed discipline and affectionate respect in a family with no drama and tension - that's priceless. In short: I recommend this course.
Ever had a problem? Me too! Ani-la Chris' teachings, uniquely adapted for the Western mind, have transformed the way I look at problems, difficulties, my mind and the world. I've really changed for the better, and this possibility is open to anyone. So much more than 'a course', 'meditation' or any other label. Highly recommended.
