I received an overseas parcel that was delivered by Australia Post. The parcel was smashed on one side. Looks like a forklift drove into it as the case in the box and the insides was crushed. I guess we'll never know whether AusPost or the international courier or Santa Clause was at fault. However, when taking the parcel to the West Mackay post office, I was told that I'd have to raise a claim with DHL the overseas courier as it wasn't insured with Australia Post. So, I left and started calling DHL - ALL of whom told me to go to my local post office for them to make a claim. I had some nasty conversations with DHL. All because Australia Post GAVE THE WRONG ADVICE! Trying to get through to anyone at AusPost on the phone is a trying experience. But hey, 5th time lucky. Therese explained to me that AusPost has an agreement with Deutsche Post who owns DHL, and although the parcel was handled by DHL for the overseas portion of the trip, it was handed to AusPost for delivery. As my consignment number and all details were in AusPost's system, Therese said that it was Australia Post's responsibility to make the claim on my behalf, and if the post office said "no", I was to tell them to call AusPost for instructions. So, I wasted almost three hours mucking around for a simple claim. I returned to the West Mackay post office and they indeed made the claim on my behalf. The next day, an Australia Post employee from Melbourne called me and offered very reasonable compensation which I accepted. See, not that hard. May I suggest better training for all post shop employees. I'm not the only one with overseas parcels that arrive damaged.
Not often that you will find a manager that will take the time to address a customer issues directly, and furthermore personally take the time to rectify those issues. The new manager has done very well in improving there standing with me personally and also others within our small community. Well done. Thanks for taking the time. I hope this culture spreads throughout Australia Post and this is more than just the efforts of one man.
The Counter team are really friendly and honestly try their best. But one star rating for a bureaucratic organisation that sends customers to collection windows to the shop and back to the collections window, whilst pensioners and business people are forced to queue impatiently for 15 minutes. It seems that simply too many transactions are channeled through the modern-day Post Office.....
The express post australia delivery man is lazy to knock the door, I’ve waiting for almost 4 hours to wait and paid for express delivery extra paid, and really need the item to use today of Saturday, they just leave the note for pick up, sadly the post australia in west mackay is closed, so it’s useless to wait the delivery man for siganture and express delivery , cause it’s lazy and they just waste my time for waiting, horrible and lazy service . For delivery man , they did not knock instead leave immediately the note.
Had to choose 1 star or couldn't post - wanted to give no stars! Rude and disrespectful staff. Can't follow basic instructions, and complaints get swept under the carpet. Very poor customer service, and delivery drivers have inflated sense of self importance! Other freight options may be more expensive, but worth it to avoid the aggravation caused by Australia Post workers.

It’s a shame that u can’t give these guys a 0. The people in the store are very lovely but the delivery drivers are so rude and never knock on the door. I have been waiting for a parcel for ages, they stuffed me around yesterday and then this morning to top it off the front door was open so they could easily knock or yell out and instead they left the slip at the open door and didn’t knock once. It is actually pathetic and I’ve had this happen several times and they will not fix the issue nor give me my delivery that I still do not have. If u can avoid using them, do.
Just wanted to thank local postie Colleen for her outstanding customer service skills and for going way above and beyond expectations. Despite not being responsible for my street on her route, she listened to my express post dilemma, and at the end of her shift, personally delivered my missing letter to my house, thanks Colleen, you're a legend
had some pics done at a camera shop for my passport application, the bridge road postoffice said because it had a slight shadow under my chin that the application would not go through. Only to charge/rip me off more money for some pics done by them. Later finding out they have a reputation in doing just this. Don't use these people!
On behalf of myself, husband and 10yr old son a massive thanks to the girls n guys at west mackay post office/delivery center for helping out with our sons progress of his passport,the customer service was above and beyond,thank you we are very relieved parents tonight' it was looking like our son wasn't going to make it,which made my husband n I sick to the stomach and everything was paid for,but with the prompt n professional staff they kept us updated,thanks again guy's....Totally recommend.
