First time visiting a cheese Factory. They opened this place for public last year. There are plenty of parking outside. 100 metres away from main highway. There are seating outside. The are and facility are well maintained. There is a history about this place and carry years of tradition in making cheese. They also depicts the process of making through images and illustration. You can view the cheese making process through the glass window. They have cheese tasting section and you can buy crackers and cheese. Also they sell variety of good ice creams. They have cheese shop as well and you can buy variety of delicious cheese which are sourced and processed locally. You can also see the cheese storage area through the glass. Entry is FREE. Worth going to this place if you are are visiting Davenport.
Lovely place to stop and get some food or have a brake from the car. Good food, nice staff. Sweet play space for the kids, well priced, and some educational information. Would have been nice to see the factory in action. Lots of setting inside and out. A lovely little gift shop as well, with a good selection of Tasmanian foods.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door. They provide lots of information on how their different cheeses are made and matured, lots of fun facts and ‘dad jokes’, and most importantly how they care for their dairy cows - it’s great to see a business who cares so much about their animals. Oh … I forgot to mention their cheese is divine! I’ll be looking for their cheeses when I get home.
A place if local dairy produce, where all sorts of dairy products, especially cheese, are available for sale. All Cradle Mountain tours will take you to this location, probably locals supporting each other. Wide facilities, and very detailed descriptions of the cheese making procedures. Most products here are quite pricy, and charges up to 40c for a carry bag. Ice cream is $6 for one scoop and $7.5 for 2 scoops. Each scoop is very big, but they are too sweet and unhealthy for me
Love this place, it’s where you can get locally produced dairy product and great for kids to explore and learn. Ice cream was good and tasty. I got some flavoured cheese too and had the white wine cheese fondu. It was great in the middle of winter, the ingredients were all very fresh. The only thing is that the seating space was more like a school canteen and not too much distance from other people eating next to you.
Four stars but I love cheese. We got one of their cheese platters and two glasses of wine - $58 I think. Enough cheese, crackers, relish, bread, fruit and nuts to satisfy us and a good cross section of their product. Different platters offer different mixes of cheese or you can choose what you like. Not a lot else to see other than through the glass at their workings or at the stacked cheese rounds except for the gift shop which sells nic nacs, cheese, wine, etc. You can also purchase various icy confections if you don't like cheese.
It was a great little self-guided tour, explaining the process of making cheese, and how the cellar door came to be. There is also a shop with cheese and local produce available for purchase, and a restaurant section, with bathroom facilities. We did a cheese tasting with 5 different cheeses. Overall a great experience.
An informative and delicious place! The toasties were great, had the ham and cheese & rubicon beef. The coffees were great too, did take a bit of time to get it though. They should add a little treat with their coffees to give it that extra touch. Also had the condensed milk ice cream which was delicious and perfect to finish on. Their range of cheeses are great. Had the fig cheese.
Ashgrove Cheese was awesome. Great story telling room including audio visual presentation. This story telling continues along the window viewing areas depicting how cheese is made and stored. Their retail space is wonderful with lots to buy.
Well what can l say, we love Ashgrove cream so it only makes sense to check out the home of Ashgrove Cream. Plenty of room to park and is dog friendly in the undercover outside dining area. Inside dining a little crowded as is the ordering counter which leads onto one of the exits. The information displays are interesting giving customers a great insight into the cheese making process. Plenty of interesting & yummy food and cheese options but a little pricey. Only a quick coffee stop as the breakfast menu had finished by 11am, was really looking forward to the’toast, truffle mushroom duxelles & butter with poached eggs’ the coffee was an excellent drop! 4 stars here today based on the cheery & helpful staff, good coffee & interesting venue….
