Story

ARTIS Gallery has been operating as a dealer gallery in Auckland, New Zealand since 1984. A contemporary gallery with a strong exhibition focus, ARTIS represents a diverse range of leading painters and sculptors from both New Zealand and overseas. Exhibitions change regularly and stock work can be viewed at all times in our Basement Gallery.

Owner and Director Jonathan Gooderham purchased ARTIS Gallery in 1989 and relocated ARTIS to its present location in Parnell, the Creative Corner of Auckland City. Today, ARTIS is proud to be a cornerstone of the prominent Parnell art community.

In 2012 a second gallery space was developed by ARTIS – the BASEMENT Gallery. This large display area presents an extensive selection of works by leading painters & sculptors. The space is unique, allowing visitors to view a wide range of artworks in a working gallery exhibition & storage space.
