Amazing place to walk in nature or camp in allowed areas. Has a small village in the middle of the park with great walks and very friendly locals. Village has a store that serves food and has a small petrol station. Also has a nice restaurant bar and motel too. DOC have a big office there for advice on short walks and multi day hikes.

Get away from the city and the people and get in touch with nature. You'll need to allocate some time here as weather might change and your plans might need to be adjusted as well. Lots of variety of walk for all types of physical abilities. Check out the Arthur's Pass Office for more info

Lots of trails to explore, very well maintained, and beautiful sights. Lake money is appropriately named. Long walk to a shallow puddle with algae covering what isn't dried up. About the size of your standard driveway. Everything was beautiful though. Excellent trip for the whole family.

Be careful out there tourists! These guys required rescue by 3 choppers holding up the road for an hour. Also a good idea to factor this possibility in if your travelling from coast to coast.

Arthur's pass is the beautiful drive from Christchurch to the west coast. There are many short and longer walks inside the park. Weather can change quickly so check in at DOC department of conservation before taking long walks. Road can be closed due to fires, snow and earthquakes so check the road conditions carefully for Arthur's and porter pass before heading to the national park.
