This art gallery is one of the best galleries I've ever been to, it's full of quirky contemporary modern art. I don't usually like modern art but this place is fantastic. The exterior looks like a Roman piece of architecture but it's the complete opposite inside.nThe space inside is nice and clean, extremely spacious and filled with wonderful pieces.nThe staff are lovely and friendly, they are eager to help or assist you.nThis art gallery is massive, you can spend hours here and still feel like you haven't seen everything.nIf you're in the local area and you're a lover of art, you simply have to come here, you will not regret it
Love this place and a regular visitor. Free entry to main galleries - what is not to like? The new building with more contemporary artworks is very impressive. The staff here are very helpful. I wish they would offer more 2 for 1 entries for the touring exhibitions. Went with a friend to the Magritte after 5pm on Wednesday and the place was pumping which shows people are interested but shelling out $35 entry pp in these times is just a bit too much.nnOutdoor sculptures including the Kasuma is awesome. Make sure you check out the oil tank below ground!
Such a large and amazing museum. Filled with A LOT sculptures and paintings. Some paintings are very huge and take up the whole wall. I didn’t need to wait long, we could just walk in. The day I went was pretty crowded but otherwise this museum is amazing. Lots of floors, on the day I went they were also playing a movie in the cinema room downstairs. To watch, it’s free. No food or drinks allowed inside the museum. Loved this place!
The art gallery is amazingly a free resource for anyone to come in and admire art or have a relaxing stroll. They do currently have two ticketed exhibitions that you would have to pay for if you wanted to see them, but you can see the rest of the gallery for free. The art gallery is actually split into two separate buildings, the north building and south building. I'd recommend going to the south building first since they have a designated reception/lobby/front desk that is easier to spot, and here you can buy tickets to the two exhibitions if you like. You can still buy tickets to the exhibitions at the exhibition entrance themselves, but at the front desk you can get a combined ticket for both that is slightly discounted I don't think you can do this in the north building front desk, nor at the individual exhibition entrances.nnThe art itself has a general focus on Australian and Aboriginal art, and a lot of contemporary art as well not so many historical artworks in comparison. I was surprised to see some paintings by Emily Carr in here, since we're both from Canada and that's so far away haha.nnOverall a very cool experience. I spent probably less than 2 hours in total walking through the two galleries, but I also didn't do the paid exhibits since they didn't really interest me, but you should expect to spend around 2+ hours here to see everything.
