I'm hoping the experience improves but already we are going to be charged for a late check out request... I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and normally if you are staying multiple nights the hotel is very accommodating with these small requests. I can understand if the hotel is fully booked, then obviously nothing can be done. But if you are charging a fee then clearly you have capacity but unwilling to service the customer for a small request. Checking in 2nd Jan... fingers crossed we can have the minor fee waived. Great stay and thank you accepting our late check out, we had an amazing time in Canberra.
We stayed here in a short trip down from Sydney. This is the second time we have stayed and really enjoyed both stays. The rooms and large, clean and comfortable. There is plenty of parking available on site. Highly recommended.
Very happy with the apartment since we arrived yesterday evening. All facilities as advertised are available and we got a room on a high floor as requested. One complaint however... last night we visited the Atrium Bar but missed the Happy Hour due to our arrival time. Visiting the bar again this evening, within the Happy Hour period Thursday 13 April after reading the TV Welcome screen message, which indicates the Happy Hour Monday to Friday offer between 4 to 6pm of a Schooner of beer at $4 and a glass of wine at $5 - but this is not available at the bar. A disappointing experience which nobody at the Atrium appears to be aware of the pricing information being given out in black and white by the Adina Serviced Apartments, or taking a decision to offer at the price quoted. Interestingly enough, the message has changed this morning - but we were still charged more than the displayed prices last night at the Atrium Bar. Food & drinks: See my comments about the special offer midweek Happy Hour prices not being honoured at the Atrium Bar.
Update: A month later & the reception was significantly better - still nothing special or overly professional. At least not grumpy. Other comments remain same. Moved from 2 to 3 stars. Pretty ordinary greeting on arrival sorry that being a guest is inconvenient for you - need to upgrade your "front door smile". While service has gone downhill since changing from Aria, amenities remain good, although they're starting to show their age. In a competitive CBR accommodation market, there's plenty of other good accommodation vying for the same business dollar...
The first room we entered , was absolutely filthy we complained and they did upgrade us however the cleanliness of the room was terrible fingerprints on all the sliding doors dust on coffee tables hand prints on tv pubic hair in spa bath was so gross and the mattress was so old it was all indented in the middle the quilt had no cover and was stained Yelp, the pillows were very old and floppy it was disgusting hair on ceiling of bathroom , dust all over toilet walls not a good impression and it ruined our stay. The apartment itself was nice and it had a nice view at least but would not stay there ever again. The most important thing for a hotel is it’s cleanliness and the comfort of the bed this place failed in both.
Great room sizes but need better care when cleaning. No luggage trolley available and the staff kept telling us incorrect info and didn't really take enough care to check the details first. My father asked for a breakfast booking as advised on their TV message ad for Adina and when he rang the number Reception, 9 was told this service is no longer available. They didn't even bother telling him that it was to do with the Atrium next door and was only 10-15m across the carpark so he could then enjoy his buffet breakfast. They just told him they don't provide room service. Not what he wanted or asked. When I rang I was told that they don't provide the service. I said it showed on their message on the TV and gave the number to ring. "9". They said for me to ring the Atrium directly. I asked them to supply the number. He then said it would take him less time to ring the Atrium and book the required table than find the number!!!!! Seriously lousy customer service or dumb! Bed was terrible. Mattress sunk in and was super saggy and I ended up hurting my back and then had no luggage trolley to deal with my bags for the 4 days I was there.
The bed was comfortable with good linen. The spa was nice and deep and the rainwater shower was a real treat. The room was a good size and the A/C's worked very well. We enjoyed the free parking that you get when you book through the Adina website. We were however, very disappointed with the kitchen. The website states that there is an oven, however there was only a convection microwave oven with no instructions. There was also no bakeware to use in the microwave. It would have been nice to have at least had a salad bowl and a colander to drain pasta. The state of the dining room chairs was shocking, with the vinyl peeling off badly, on the legs as well. A dish drainer and a scrubbing brush would be helpful. We were surprised that our towels were changed every day, which is very bad for the environment. The bed was only made once during our four day stay. All four plastic placemats were badly stained and we couldn't use them. We found a box of wine and Woolies cooler bag left in one of the cupboards. We just felt that the love was missing. Also, ask for a balcony that doesn't overlook the ABC carpark. They have huge satellite dishes and you just don't want to sit out there. Lastly, head to the Ainslie shopping centre, which is only a 5 minute drive away. We loved Edgar's Inn. Great place for a drink and also breakfast. There is also an excellent IGA and a fantastic wine shop.
Wifi slow to non existsent. TV has two remotes to use ?. Walls are thin so you can hear every cough, sneeze or TV from adjoining rooms - let alone doors slamming all hours of the night. My room was dark with only a tiny window / balcony that was right next to the air conditioning outlets. No water pressure, beds are insanely soft and need to be replaced. Hosuekeeping didn't replace dirty mugs or make the bed and the fridge was set to freeze meaning any groceries or meals I bought were frozen in time. The only reason I didn't give this hotel one star is that it forced me to walk around Canberra more to avoid going back to the hotel. Food & drinks: There is / was none
From 5 to 1 Stars in a minute. What was a great customer service experience by a front desk employee crashed and burned when management stepped in to make themselves some easy money. Horrible attitude towards customers and more focussed on enforcing their greedy one sided policies. Not a pleasant experience at all. Will never go back.Rooms: 1/5
Stayed over the weekend at a one br apartment. First room allocated stank of curry odor, went downstairs and was told by reception that it could be from another room. Definitely needs PR training as the guests are not always wrong. Eventually got a room changed. Rooms are dated for the price, phones don’t work and furniture needs to be donated. Plenty more options for the price paid around Dickson.
