Araluen provides a range of services and support to individuals with a disability, to inspire and empower them to fulfil their aspirations.
The Araluen Centre was established at the Lower Plenty site in Old Eltham Road in 1973 to provide services for adults with an intellectual disability. Our heritage dates back to 1950 when a small group of parents commenced a supported playgroup in a Kew garage.
Our aim is to be innovative and responsive, providing group and individualised services to adults with disabilities, in consultation with their families and communities. We are committed to being an innovative leader, delivering inclusive and individualised services for all of our people.
The core principles of Araluen are: being people-focussed, acting with integrity, collaboration, adaptability and sustainability. Araluen has an incorporated Board of Directors, the members of which volunteer their services in this role.
