I have been a patient at this medical centre for 22 years. Since Dr Paisley retired the level of service has declined dramatically. Although the current doctors are good, the increased wait time to both get an appointment, rarely on the same day or even the next day, or in the waiting room has increased exponentially. But the biggest problem now is the rudeness of the reception staff. On more than one occasion I have rung to request a prescription, only to be told my regular doctor is away and I would have to wait until her return because it is"illegal" for any other doctor to write me a prescription. What a load of rubbish! My medical records are on file with the medical centre, therefore, any doctor here is able to check those records and give me a prescription. These staff members need to be properly trained and informed that the messages they are giving out to patients are incorrect. I know my rights as a patient, but how many people are forced to wait because they think what they are told is correct. Perhaps they would prefer we go elsewhere for our medical needs. Very disappointing.
Dr. Ivan Seeto has been our family doctor for 40 years. Why change when you have the best! He is spot on with diagnosis and takes the time to listen and explain. Crisis times were when my toddler was asthmatic, husband had a stroke, thyroid and a hole in his heart. Dr. Seeto has always seen us through without holding back his words. He is very professional and caring and I know that I know our health is in the best of hands. Staff outside -- I have had no issues there. Well, today I have covid and it's Dr. Seeto to the rescue...
My family have been patients of Appletree Medical Centre for over 35 years, but sadly the service provided has fallen dramatically. Apart for how surly and sometimes downright rude the receptionist can be, the final straw was this weekend when my daughter called totally stressed as her 10 month old baby was coughing, wheezing badly and struggling to breathe, asking to please see her.. their response “ we will get back to you” An hour later “ sorry we can’t see you” What doctor would refuse to see a very sick child!! When she brought the child to another medical centre they were appalled that an ethical medical practice would not only refuse to see a very sick baby, but would take a hour to say no. They gave her the medication and said that she should be watched carefully and if she deteriorated any further she would need to be hospitalised. Shame on you Appletree Medical centre.
I do have to agree with Ally, who previously wrote a review. The doctors are professional, genuine and knowledgeable, however there is an issue with the receptionists. I have been going to this centre for numerous years, and I honestly do not know why these women were hired. They are snarky, judgemental, gossipy and inconsiderate with patients, and do not take accountability for their errors - have literally heard them say multiple times "that isn't my fault", or "take it up with the doctors". I don't think I've heard them ever apologise. Just need to be taught simple manners. I've seen children with better manners and this is coming from an 18 year old who was once a moody teenager. I'm sure others feel the same way, just worried to speak up. Was at the centre the other day for my appointment, the receptionists had phoned letting us know they were running on time, however it was clear they had not checked and were running over an hour late, meaning I couldn't get my blood tested because by then I had fasted for too long. While I was waiting, a woman with a toddler came in asking for emergency help. Yes I get it, the doctors were with other patients but the way they handled the situation was so poor. They could've called the mother an ambulance while she tried to calm down her boy. Felt so bad and wish I had said something. Instead they turned her away, rudely telling her to go somewhere else and gave no support whatsoever. This review probably will get deleted, but their behaviour is just so appalling that someone needs to put them in their place.
Huge thanks to Louise & Linda for their excellent service, kindness & caring. Thanks so much.
Whilst the doctors are lovely the receptionist staff need more training. We needed a referral faxed for an important appointment and the staff Louise was very rude over the phone. I have worked in medical reception for 3 years and it has never once been the doctors job to fax referrals as she was claiming and thus it was obviously the laziness of the receptionist who didn't want to take responsibility for a task. I understand it gets busy but it takes 2 minutes to fax a referral and when the imaging center is calling you the medical centre and is threatening to cancel the $300 appointment because YOU didn't send the referral I would expect the staff to find a spare minute. Someone needs to speak to the reception staff about task delegation, willingness to work slightly harder for 2 minutes, keeping the client's happy and how to not be rude, catty and dismissive over the phone. The interaction with the reception team was a poor reflection of the capability of the business to both the client and medical imaging center as it took an hour to have it sent.
Yes. Wow great doctors but receptionists are downright rude! Having worked as a receptionist I just can not believe the way they answer the phone as a human let alone as a customer service rep.
Does the reception staff know that WE CAN HEAR them gossiping about the patients??
Our family have been patients of Dr Ivan Seeto since 1984, and even though we have moved out of the area we continue to return for all our medical requirements. You will never find a more caring and compassionate doctor.
Great having your own doctor who will take the time to get the right answer. It some time means that you have to wait a bit but its worth doing. They have a 30 year history with us
