Exceptional service with a genuine smile also very helpful. Affordable rentals and easy process from first call of enquiry to drop off of rental car.i will definitely and still always make dave my first point of call when needing a rental car.

I am the owner of the company. This is a rebuttal for two malicious reviews. I worked 9 years with 5 days off a year working 10 hour days. A five star rating on Google for City Branc, 98% on No Cowboys for the workshop, and in Albany where it all started two bad reviews and neirher of them are rental customers. One wrote on the wrong retail page and has nothing to do with rental cars and second a friend of a customer but not actually the customer. I'd like to call them something else. This is in response to these two young men who abuse the privledge and chose to write malicious reviews and in the process devalue genuine Google reviews from normal people. Why because they didn't get what they wanted on the spot. You guessed it. The new generation with a smart phone, and a Google account and know how to use it....forget reality or the customers in front of them. Apparently you can write a review and not even be a customer for that business. Just say anything Truth or reality not required by Google review. Just make it up as you go. It's a me world for them. 9 years of business. Two reviews I object to. Thousands of customers. Very high repeat business. One a customer who wrote on the wrong company page for his review which should be on the retail page. Is this what I should expect from a big shot upcoming manager who interrupts the customers ahead of him? A difficult problem to find on a purchased car even by a specialist and repaired at no charge. A bad review calling me a crook because I fixed a small problem on a car most dealers wouldn't find. I'm 20 years in used cars. I couldn't find it. I took it to specialist. It took him two visits to find it. The "customer" said he'd write a bad review if it wasn't fixed by Friday or his money back. Guess what it was fixed by the date at no charge, but being upset he wasn't given a refund and the car fixed "I'm a crook" He also flattened the battery to the free loan car intentionally so after I delivered his car to him I'd be stranded Really nice guy but not if we are talking about him. I'd have another word for him. . A reliable dealer who fixed the car at no charge i'm a crook. Try ex police officer with a masters degree who came to nz and in the car business won more awards for the best used car dept in NZ 's most popular brand before opening his own business. I think I still have the record for that brand for most used car dealer of the year awards 10 years later. This guy would call and demand I stop serving other customers in front of him to help him. There is such a thing as a bad customer. One you never want back. Lateat one. It's hard to know where to begin. One it's not written by the customer. It's a friend who helped organise. An eftpos transaction went through twice. The customer was refunded. Each time it showed transmission error. It was a long term hire. He called me sent me his statement. . I agrred to refund on return. I was delayed 10 minutes by another customer on his return and was at VTNZ. No phone call from him. I got back found out I missed him and called him. I organised repayment. It was over $500 so over limit for refund card and I don't retain credit card info. . Called the eftpos company was redirected to the bank. Mind you I didn't know how to do one as it never happened before. Refund made. Now the stuff this mystery guy says who is not actually the customer. I smelled of alcohol and had a hard alcohlic drink on my desk at 11am well no. Your friend arrived in the afternoon. No, the empty can he saw wasn't mine. More than likely an empty pulled out from under the seat of a car with all the other rubbish people leave in cars. I smelled of alcohol. It's called graffiti remover and prepsol bought from pacers. It's applied with a rag and you are suppose to wear gloves I never have time for gloves. It takes off the paint transfers and scratches off the cars paint work and bumpers. It can be quicker than using cutting compound. . Also removed tar off floor mats You need this for rental cars. Nothing else he said made sense.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. David an outright crook the owner of this company is not honest. My friend arrived from America to rent a car for the 2nd year in a row. Last year Apple cars had a car yard in Parnell as well as Albany. This year he seems to have started going broke, we found him drinking a can of bourbon and coke at 11am! He stunk of alcohol. We arrived in Albany to hire the car and my friend put his Visa card into the machine. David said that the internet connection had gone down and that the payment had not gone through, saying as the connection had cut off it didn't show it accepted or declined. So my friend agreed to put the card through again, it was a big drama and took us an hour to get the car which was ridiculous. Sure enough days later my friend checked his visa statement and realised that the charge of nearly $700 for one months rental had gone through twice. We contacted David who promised to refund it on evidence of the duplicate payment, making out it would be hard for him to trace the payment his end, which is ridiculous. My friend provided all the evidence he required. He kept promising to return the payment. Payment was not made. We started ringing every day to be told he was with customers and would ring back, but he never did. My friend had to return the car early, David said he would sort the refund on the day we returned the car. On the day the car was returned we rang David to say we would be at the car yard in one hour time, and he agreed he would be there and sort out the refund. We arrived and he was not there (surprise surprise), he didn't show. A guy working on another business in the same car yard confirmed David was not there and that he was now living in the car yard having sold his 2.5 million house and that his business was failing! Later my friend wrote to him with evidence of filling the car with petrol. His reply was ridiculous, asking why when we got to the car yard we didn't call as he was stuck at the car warrant place. Seriously we rang an hour before to be told he would be there. Again he confirmed a refund was no problem, he has the account details but still 7 days down the road no refund has been made. My friend has lodged a claim through his Visa card which means Visa will honour the payment and then black list Apple Cars. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CROOK, HE IS GOING BUST AND I SWEAR HE MUST BE PULLING THIS TRICK WITH UNWITTING TOURISTS ALL THE TIME WHO ARE UNABLE TO DO MUCH BEFORE THEY LEAVE!!! HE MIGHT BE CHEAPER BUT ITS NOT WORTH IT. His cars are rubbish too, the first time we rented through him the car leaked water through the sun roof, this time the glove box wouldn't stay shut. Rubbish cars, rubbish company, rubbish dishonest owner.

Do not, under any circumstances, purchase or rent a vehicle from this business. I can say without doubt that buying a car from Dave at Apple Cars was the single most disappointing experience I have ever had as a customer. Dave sold me a faulty vehicle which showed signs of serious transmission failure within 2 days of the exchange. This was a 2008 Golf with less than 70,000km’s on the ODO, not a cheap banger where issues could be expected. What followed over the course of the next 3 months was various attempts at contacting him, including time wasted getting to the yard, on the phone and over email, in futile efforts to get the issue resolved. Dave is a crook – dishonest, difficult to deal with, confrontational and completely lacking any accountability for his errors. I have subsequently learned that he and his business have been in the news for similar issues with other customers, including refusal to pay money owed for agreed deals. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere – sadly this individual (and his business) is the reason that negative stereotypes exist for used-car salesmen. I hope no-one has to experience what I did.
