Story

Since 1993 Animato has been a specialist Violin Shop for Australians who play the violin, viola, cello and double bass. We now also ship internationally. Animato is said to be Australia's largest specialist string store, carrying hand-made string instruments for beginners, advanced players and professionals. Instrument pricing varies with Student violin outfits starting at $247 and Cello outfits starting at $997. At the upper end Animato offers European violins for up to $15,000 and cellos for up to $35,000. The online shopping cart contains over 2000 string instrument related products.

The salesman played the cheaper violins differently to the more expensive ones. He held onto the strings. I have played violin 15yrs I know the difference and could clearly see it. He also promised the cheapest price then half an hour later gave something else. A day later I discovered it was advertised even cheaper again online at the same store. Shop elsewhere. EDIT DUE TO SHOP RESPONSE: I met you, my husband bought a violin from you for me while we were all there, at a price above the online price... we had a baby with us who screamed a lot while we shopped - perhaps now that jogs your memory. I can provide the receipt to verify my shopping experience, if only google reviews allowed image uploads as verification, I would show you. This is a genuine review, again I recommend to potential shoppers to shop elsewhere or at the very least buy online to avoid being ripped off. The fact that the company is refusing to accept responsibility for this review should be an even greater turn off for potential shoppers.

I've been a customer of Animato Strings for many years and have always found the staff to go above and beyond in terms of service. There is a superb range of string instruments for every price point and every musician, from entry level to professional. Be assured that you will be well informed throughout the important process of purchasing an instrument or bow!

Excellent customer service and super quick delivery. I ordered strings and a music book and it arrived the next day. Had some queries about restringing an instrument and got a response to my email in minutes. So professional, friendly and helpful.

With such a huge range of string instruments on display, there's something for everyone. Friendly and helpful staff, make this experience one to remember. Let's not forget the wonderful guys in the workshop, who can improve an instrument or fix something on the spot in their on site workshop. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the market for buying an instrument or improving your own!
