Angelucci 20th Century

About

Vintage decorative furnishings and design 1945 – 1975. Butterfly Chairs, bespoke sofa ranges & homewares.

Story

Established in 1992, Angelucci 20th Century offers a broad selection of local and international decorative furnishings and designer pieces predominantly from the 1950′s and 1960′s.

Whilst the majority of our furniture are immediately recognizable iconic designs from the International Style and Danish Modern movements, Angelucci 20th Century also deals with both the pared back, raw and innovative pieces of Australia’s post war designers and the work of the European immigrant companies that set up here offering a more florid, luxuriant and decorative take on Mid-Century style.

We believe that vintage mid 20th century pieces can sit comfortably in any contemporary interior, complementing and contrasting with the things you love – be they 1 or 100 years old.

All our vintage original pieces are imported directly from Denmark and France and lovingly restored in our workshop here in Melbourne.

Our BRunswick warehouse is open Fridays 12-5 and Saturdays 11-4pm.

"Established in 1992, Dean Angelucci has been sourcing and dealing Mid-20th Century furnishings for over 25 years. Our passion for Mid-Century modern design is reflected through the selection of predominantly 1950s and 1960s European and Australian designs. Care is taken to locate not only iconic designs from the International Style and Danish Modern movements, but also the beautifully crafted “everyday” vintage pieces that are equal parts form and function. Our eclectic selection can include anything from the Mid-Century period that we feel is a unique expression of this complex and rich period. All our vintage pieces are individually selected and lovingly restored in our workshop here in Melbourne."

Having searched extensively for vintage dining chairs for several years, I found the most beautiful dining chairs at Angelucci. We initially chose 2 Arne Hovmand-Olsen model #71 with their stunning craftmanship at the Fitzroy store and needed 3 more chairs to complete the suite. Dean suggested I view some other chairs at the Brunswick warehouse that may be suitable. Was so excited to see there were Hans Wegner Sawbuck chairs available with a similar height and style to the Olsen #71 . Dean went well beyond to re upolster and soften the patina of the Sawbuck chairs altering the reddish warm patina to a yellowish hue so as to sit well with the Arne Hovmand-Olsen chairs. Cannot speak highly enough of Dean and his staff at Angelucci. We get great pleasure daily and absolutely love our chairs and feel very privileged to own them.
Beautiful furniture in a showroom that is pleasant to browse; staff were very efficient in organising delivery of my order.
The Saturday shop man is the rudest I have encountered. Did not even acknowledge my existence and was very rude when I asked some questions about a lovely sideboard. I ended up not buying even though I was keen as he put me off so much.
My partner and I have extensively looked at mid century furniture shops in Sydney and on a visit to Melbourne we're lucky enough to come by Angelucci. Dean was knowledgeable and very approachable. He sourced the chairs and table combination we were after and had them restored beautifully and delivered with care to us in Sydney, we wouldn't hesitate to return to his shop.
Beautifully restored oak and teak Danish furniture from the 60s. Feels like you've travelled back in time when mass production and replicas are not yet in trend. Best extension dining tables, seamless and timeless design.
Such an abfab selection of vintage furniture. Delightful staff and a wonderful experience. Will be back again x
I've always loved walking past this store and admired the terracotta kitchenware. I finally had a need for a new roasting tray and walked in, selected the one I wanted to buy, and proceeded to the counter. I don't believe I even received a 'hi' or 'how you today'... or that said, even a 'happy new year' given the timing of the year from either guys. The only comment was 'you should soak this for 3 hours before you use it'. Not a friendly bunch of people... I won't be buying anything else from this shop. There are much more customer orientated stores - ie. Modern Times, down the road that will be getting my business moving forward.
The guy that works on Saturdays is super rude. Was going to spend $4,000 but only walked out because of his attitude. Avoid this store, its not worth the attitude.
One of Melbourne's best stores.
Nice furniture and lovely service, but on the expensive side
