My partner, his family and I tried Anekawa for the first time last night to celebrate a birthday. We did the omakase with the sake pairing and the food was absolutely incredible. I personally am not the biggest fan of fish and tofu but what the chef made for us has definitely change my mind as you how delicious these can be. The waiters were wonderful and very easy to get along with and chat to. My partner and I will definitely be coming back for our anniversary.
This place deserves 5 stars x10. Incredible food, service and atmosphere.nWe started with some cocktails which were delicious, then went in for some Cobia which was insanely good. For the main we had the wagyu and mushroom rice clay pot, and we were in heaven the whole time. It was the perfect temperature inside on a cold winters night, I can’t fault anything. Special shoutout to Rhiannon for her incredible service! So friendly and attentive!
Service was amazing and the venue is very authentic and feels like you’re in Japan. Some of the tables are far too close together, though the tasting menu was so so. We liked some of the dishes and felt others were an odd combination or lacked flavour. We love a good omakase and it was good to try, but I wouldn’t go back for the price.
Do yourself a favour and treat your taste buds. This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had, the food was sensational. 10/10, I genuinely couldn’t fault a thing, from the food to the service. Will most certainly be back.
We arrived at our booking time but were not greeted. After waiting, a staff member checked our booking, said “Sorry, table not ready, maybe 10 minutes,” and walked away without offering where to wait or a menu. With a very small entrance, we were left standing awkwardly — not a great first impression.nnWe chose the 8‑course omakase, which felt more like shared banquet‑style dishes rather than omakase. The food was average overall. The chawanmushi was the highlight, while the oysters were standard and the grilled fish was salty and overcooked. For the price, it didn’t meet expectations.nService felt rushed and disengaged. My sister was still eating her chawanmushi when it was cleared and the next course was served. Dishes were barely explained, the music was loud, and interactions felt procedural, with repeated “all good? happy?” rather than genuine hospitality.nTo be fair, the team did acknowledge the birthday and helped us celebrate, which we appreciated.nGiven the many positive reviews, we expected more. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t feel worth the price.
