How wonderful are the staff here!!! So polite and accommodating The Steak Sandwich was beautiful everything so fresh and perfectly cooked! The Chicken Caesar Salad was excellent although the chicken would have been nicer warm and the vino selection was great The addition of a change table in the men's toilet is a sign of a really well thought out establishment to cater for families Can't wait to come back in the summer time
Easy and friendly check in. Room absolutely lovely with beautiful views. Private balcony overlooking the water was amazing. Loads of character and "a good feel". Bar and bistro look great. Would definitely rebook the room we had room 26 spa room.
The rooms were tired!!! Carpet was filthy but the view was great! It’s just far 2 old and needs a revamp desperately. Bathroom was nice and modern it had a funny smell and the hot water took 5 full minutes to get there. The best feature……lovely soft sheets. It’s so disappointing when you get to a hotel and it’s not what you expected !
Delicious meal, had beef MB and it was delicious, everything on the plate was cooked nicely, we also had fish and chip, calamari and few kids meals, they were all nicely done, even the side salad was so fresh!!! Everyone enjoyed the food and were really happy!Location: 5/5
The most over priced underwhelming food experience I have ever had. This establishment needs a lesson in customer service and pricing. It almost requires the chefs to go back to cooking school. Punctuality is not their forte. Arrived at 12pm ordered 4 meals, thinking we would be able to catch the 1.30pm cockle train on a weekday. The meals only arrived at 1.20pm - over an hour after we ordered. With four people standing behind the bar, I still waited over 5 minutes to be served - I was the only one at the bar. It actually took a waitress to arrive to get someone who could actually serve to serve me. Dissatisfied and disappointed doesn’t quite sum it up. A well meaning and hungry customer.
As a local, I've dined here twice. Whilst it is a lovely location, My last meal A beef schnitzel was old and tough and the crumbs were stale soft, oil laden and falling off the rubbery beef. The Dianne sauce was just gravox.. I was really hungry but I found it inedible. Sorry guys but I'll be dining elsewhere in future.Service: 2/5
Lovely hotel, the spas are absolutely amazing and right on the beach! Would definitely stay there again. The view of the sunrise from the balcony was awesome Stayed over Xmas and had some issues getting in as it wasnt staffed that day. One phone call to the management and they helped instantly despite it being Xmas. Beautiful place, beautiful people and lovely town
The staff were friendly and polite but that’s where it stops. After leaving the “Oaks Liberty Suites” in Glenelg which were amazing we arrived here - to find our small tired room which cost the same price as Glenelg, had intermittent power apparently if too many guests use too many appliances, the switch board can’t cope and the hotel knows this problem too well and has not fixed the issue a dirty balcony littered with cigarette butts this was a non smoking room We couldn’t use the spa due to no power. The TV didn’t work and my wife and I couldn’t leave fast enough in the morning. This definitely was not worth the money we paid and to put this all in context, the next day we stayed at the Robe Hotel which was more than half the price of The Anchorage with better views, a larger room with better amenities. The Anchorage is a tired run down hotel that I would not recommend.
Great food and coffee, excellent place to watch the train for kids while enjoying a coffee. Unfortunately they are closed Monday and Tuesday. Seems ridiculous to me that you would close any day for the month around Christmas and new years. We were here on Tuesday at 10:30am and no less than 12 groups of people tried the door in the 15-20minutes we were there. Seems a shame to miss out on your biggest trading weeks of the year.
Upon arriving, three staff were busily talking and took no notice until we announced we had a booking. Shared an entree that was okay. Mains, well they were very ordinary. Out of the three, only the fish was decent but the chips for all three mains were disgusting and definately were not fresh! Chicken schnitzel and chicken souvlaki were overcooked. Chicken schnitzel was returned and a refund given. Overall, the Anchorage Hotel isn't somewhere I would recommend to eat at. Food was very ordinary along with the service, even though we counted around 8 people working in the restaurant. If it's possible to give zero stars, I would! Avoid it at all times. You have been warned and eat at your own peril. Victor Harbour has a number of great places to eat including Nina's and Loco Mexican.
